| groggu (12), Ann Arbor, Michigan | | February 7, 2010 Morgan and York (aka Big Ten Market, aka Cheese Cheese Cheese ;-) focuses on wines and high-end deli items. Although the beer selection has faded a bit since the ownership changed in ’01, they still have an adequate selection of Michigan craft beers. For many years this was the only place you could find these beers in Ann Arbor.
This is a must stop if you’re in town. Pick up a couple of 6 packs for you and some fine wine for the wife. | SiRCRX (1), Warren, Michigan does not count - explanation | | November 1, 2009 Tom York and his staff have to be the most courteous and helpful group I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Each and everyone of them were more than willing to share their knowledge and help us make our beer decisions, as well as suggested food pairings. The Deli selection is fantastic, with one of the best meat & cheese collection in the state. The beer selection may be a bit small but makes up with quality and proper care. There is a small selection up front near the wine as well as a larger selection in the coolers by the deli. Michigan brews are represented very well with Bell’s, Founder’s, Shorts, Jolly Pumpkin, Dark Horse, etc. as well as Imports. Proper Glassware is also available from Riedel. | | Blaze312 (10), Ann Arbor, Michigan | | March 27, 2009 This was the first place I stopped after signing up for ratebeer. I had passed this store frequently and it always looked interesting. Upon entering the store my biggest question was answered, yes, this is primarily a wine store. They have cheese available, although I am not rating the food as I did not try any. The staff was very friendly. The selection of beer was less then impressive. I saw more then a few bottles of beer that i had never seen before, they just didn’t have a significant number of these. There are far better selections for beer in the Ann Arbor area. However this was one of the most open and friendly stores I have been to thus far. Some of the prices were a little high, but not incredibly unreasonable either. I think I will check them out again after I have a better idea of what I’m looking for in a beer. |
