82 This brewpub is located conveniently to light rail, being the main reason I chose to stop here. It's a little smaller on the inside than I expected it to be, and definitely packed on a Saturday night. The food menu has some smoked meats, but not traditional American barbecue style. It has more of local flair. A decent array of beers were on. I just had a couple and they were good enough. I wouldn't call this a standout destination for the traveling beer geek, but serviceable. |
78 Brew pub located near the Nokomis area of Minneapolis. We could smell the smoked meat as we were walking up to the place. The interior is a little small but there is nice patio on the side of the building as well. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. Flights are 6 beers but 4 are standard and you can choose the remaining 2. Food was really good. The beer was okay but I would probably stop in again. |
74 nice tap room decent food little overpriced but not bad beer was ok |
84 Visited with jackl and evanlarkin. Large ish restaurant style place with a large central bar. It’s a smokehouse, so that was a theme throughout, right down to the tasty smoked cheese curds. Brewer was working on a Saturday morning and we enjoyed chatting with him on his breaks. Flights of six tasty beers with a bunch of seasonals. Nice stop. |
76 This place is a fun, no-frills brewpub that serves great food. I took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and sat outside on the patio. The interior is pretty cramped and I’d imagine that scoring a table here would be tough when the temperature drops. The wings and smoked cheese curds were both well above average bar food. The barbecue sandwiches also looked great. The six house beers were a bit hit and miss. The pale hoppy offerings were all very similar and seemed to suffer from being overly sweet and flabby. The porter, however, was pretty great. A few guest taps were also available at solid prices. Overall, despite some beers not being to my taste, I had a lot of fun here. I’d recommend a visit, especially if you’re hungry. |
74 Small place, very full. Large number of beers, mostly all in the porter/amber/pale ale families. Solid to above average quality. Only had the smoked curds, but delicious. Would certainly be back. |
80 Cool little corner brewpub. It was busy at 2:30 pm but we got a table right away. Food was good and several of the beers were very good. |
84 A nice small brewpub south of town. A small dining area up front with a bar in the back. Service was great and bartender was happy to walk through the details of each beer. 11 beers on tap on my visit with 5 of their own beers which were available in a flight. Food was very solid and prices were not too shabby. Solid beer and very good food which means I will definitely be by again. |
74 This place gets really packed virtually every night of the week; it is the only decent bar in this neighborhood and it was very much needed when it opened. It gets very busy, and it’s probably unwise to drop in with more than four people. The beer is standard American brewpub stuff, and it is mostly fine; there are always guest taps available. The porketta sandwich is the most popular item here and it is worth the trip by itself, but as a whole I would describe the food as average. |
78 The really favorable qualities about Northbound are the food and the beer selection. The not so favorable qualities are that the place has very limited seating and lacks ambience. Had a couple of menu items that featured their smoked meats and they were outstanding. Beer selection includes some guest beers, and I was also quite impressed with their own beer. The outdoor patio provides some much needed additional seating capacity since indoor capacity can’t be much more than 50, and there’s hardly any room to stand and wait for a table or bar stool to open up. Best to call for a reservation. Great service. |
