| dkachur (39), Charlottesville, Virginia | | June 13, 2008 In a sort of out of the way area of town, but worth it. Great beer selection, though it is a little pricy. Cute dog running around. Helpful employees, though I hear the owner can be a bit rude. Nice glassware selection. | hophead311 (3), does not count - explanation | | April 4, 2008 I felt like a kid in a candy store here. I’m not used to this type of selection back in Tidewater, at least not in a store. The people who worked there are very cool. There was a dog roaming around most of the time. Luckily, I went here first on my beer store tour. I can’t wait to go back again and again. | Speedle (6), Mid-Atlantic (Tour 2007-2008), Virginia does not count - explanation | | February 13, 2008 I try to stop here whenever I’m in Richmond .... A nice hidden gem... great selection, a little overpriced but who cares about paying an extra buck for something that sells out before you get there, somewhere else ....... no pressure, they will answer any question you have if you ask, but they leave you alone ..... this place has a nice hometown feel and is a must visit if you’re in Richmond | | Butters (64), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee | | February 9, 2008 This place definately has quite the selection. I too, like stegosaurus, have had to wait up to 5 minutes to get checked out before, but it is well worth the wait. But I actually LIKE the fact that the staff isn’t constantly trying to ’help’ me. I enjoy it when a beer store just lets me scope out there selection in search of those not-so-common brews. I always feel better when I find a good rare beer myself than have a clerk try to shove bottles in my face just because he likes a particular style. | | bryandhargrave (13), Tulsa, Oklahoma | | December 19, 2007 i went in, i bought A LOT of beer, like 160 bucks worth. i had a pile of beer on the counter and made several trips. they didnt care. cracked jokes with me and were very personable. cashier filled up boxes for me and helped me carry them to my car. much more beer than the typical small wine spot. dug it. will go back. lots. | adam7679 (3), Ringgold, Georgia does not count - explanation | | September 10, 2007 Stopped by while in town for the Richmond race. My only complaint was that I couldn’t fit more beer in my suitcase. This is one of the best selections that I have ever seen. I e-mailed the store, and Emily put a 120 minute and a RR Tempation behind the counter waiting for me. Great Service. Bear Republic, Allagash, plenty of Unibroue, Dogfish Head, Russian River to name a few, but too many to list. A great beer store. | | Braudog (441), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates | | August 26, 2007 Stopped for some take-homes after the Shockoe Craft Beer Festival and was heartily impressed. Even though my wife was hurrying me along, I walked out with a case of singles, mostly imports, but even some Rogue, Green Flash and Stone that I can’t get in SE Virginia. And the proprieter gave me a 5% military discount. All the way nice. | | stegosaurus (34), Levittown, Pennsylvania | | July 15, 2007 Stopped here while in Richmond Va for two days. Not a lot of beer, but still a nice selection. I picked up a Double Bastard ale, Bells oberon, and a Girardin Black Label while i was here. I also saw a large selection of Dogfish, Stone, russian river Damnation, a slew of belgians. Not a bad place at all. They were havin some type of wine tasting when i was there, so there was nobody there to ring me up for about 5 minutes, and i was never asked if i needed help, but i would go back if i was in the area. | | obguthr (14), Poquoson, Virginia | | June 9, 2007 Richmond tour Final stop: The shop appeared to be a converted 7-11 with plenty of space, half wine, half beer. It was bit off the beaten path, at least to an out-of-towner like me. Staff was friendly and helpful. He seemed fairly knowledgeable but I didn’t press him on anything. I saw quite a few rare beers. There were plenty of belgians and small single imports. I got a Sammy Smith, but I’m kicking myself for not getting the marked down Ayinger Oktoberfest, but by this stop, I’d already spent way too much. Next time, I’ll start here first. | starfireming (1), Richmond, Virginia does not count - explanation | | March 11, 2007 Really good selection, a little overpriced, but for that it’s worth it. The staff are nice, but the guy who runs it is a creep. I’ve heard things that lead me to think he’s a dirty old man, totally seems to believe that guys are his buyers and squeezes customers and employees alike for every penny. I do like the food products & wine selection too, just wish the ownership would change over. | View Page : 1 2 3
