| Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | June 1, 2011 (Visited 07/2010): Oskar Blues Grill is in downtown Lyons on Main Street. Parking is fairly abundant in the surrounding lots.
The interior is split into an upstairs and downstairs. I only glanced downstairs but it looks like a bar and music venue, whereas the upstairs is more of a "sit-down" restaurant with a smaller bar. After walking past a small gift shop and up a few stairs, the space has a good sized table seating area on the left and a small bar on the right. There is an eclectic array of decor, including artwork, license plates, portraits, etc with a rustic and worn-in smokehouse flavor underneath it all. The available brews are listed on a board behind the bar.
As for the beers, there is a pretty good array (9 taps), and a sampler is available for $1/beer. On top of a few of the regular OB brews like Old Chub and Dale’s, there were several on tap I had not seen before, from Leroy and Short Bus to Priscilla Wheat and Viking Malt Liquor. All of the beers were above average. One minor disappointment was no Ten Fidy, but the servers were able to suggest a couple places to look for cans.
Speaking of service, it was good on our visit. Our server was punctual and brought samples of everything, going past what was allotted on the tray.
The food at Oskar Blues is pretty good. We both had barbecue (ribs, pulled pork) and were satisfied.
Overall this place is well worth the drive from Denver to visit. | | RudiNicole (77), Michigan | | April 25, 2011 Came here on a visit from Michigan. The bar is cool and pretty fun. Not a whole lot of beer selection, but it was all pretty good. It was a fun stop, and recommended to all. | | tennessejed420 (18), Denver, Colorado | | April 13, 2011 This is a pretty beautiful place to have a beer, especially if you sit out on the porch with the mountain view. When I went I have to admit service was pretty bad - I think it’s family run and most of the servers / busboys were kids, who seemed really stoned, and kept messing up orders. However, I did not come for the food, but for the beer, which is great. OB is one of my favorite CO breweries and its great to have their portfolio consolidated for you on draft, plus, they always have a couple offering available only on draft here and not in stores. Everything is priced right and overall I plan on returning. I’m sure the service isn’t consistently like it was. | | Beaver (13), Fort Collins, Colorado | | November 3, 2010 OB is a fun place to go. They have their regular beers plus a couple specials. The food is good cajun/southern/bar food. They are have music frequently (bluegrassy). | | adnielsen (277), Fort Collins, Colorado | | October 13, 2010 Hippie joint in a hippie town. A lot of hoppy brews and mostly above average beers (albeit overrated by most commentators). It’s a short trip from Boulder, so I would recommend stopping by here if you’re touring Boulder breweries. Maybe hit this place for lunch, head to Boulder (around 20 minutes), hit Upslope, then Twisted Pine, then Boulder Brewery, and then the Pearl St breweries (Mtn Sun, Draft House, Walnut, BJs). | | tomciccateri (89), Albuquerque, New Mexico | | September 17, 2010 Two nice patios with slow service and smokers but great sun and tunes. Cozy bars upstairs and down. Classic video game room with black lights. Within listening distance from concerts in the park. Well lit seating areas and friendly staff. Needs a bed and breakfast upstairs.
Great spot.
| scoth (1), Fort Collins, Colorado does not count - explanation | | August 1, 2010 Went for dinner on a Sunday, and the place was really busy. Not a long wait, but we were ignored when we walked in, and it wasn’t clear if we should seat ourselves, or be seated: awkward. The place has lots of character, stickers and beer-themed decorations abound. Live music was playing at the bar downstairs, and there were a bunch of retro arcade games. Our waitress was pretty good once we were seated. Good selection of pub food, burgers, cajun, BBQ, even gyros. Service was a little slow, but not surprising since every table was full. Looking forward to returning. | | savnac (155), Anchorage, Alaska | | June 7, 2010 Nice clean place, we sat outside on the deck on a sunny day. Got great service considering we were the only ones on the deck. Just had some beers and they had a great selection of regular and special beers. Had some brews I haven’t seen anywhere else. Food looked good and would stop by again and eat next time. | | Pawola22 (18), Chicago, Illinois | | March 6, 2010 Stopped here for lunch and it didn’t disappoint. Relaxed restaurant feel with a very pleasant staff. Good food, I had the gyro platter. The beer was excellent as usual and they have a few seasonals only offered at the pubs. Prompt service and decently priced. If I lived around this place, I’d definitely be a regular. | | 3fourths (962), Boulder, Colorado | | January 4, 2010 easy to have a good time here. right down the mountains from the valleys of the st. vrain river, loads of cajun food, a couple of seasonals/small batches on tap. unfortunately they rarely make a good beer these days. |
