beer tour 09/21/08 stopped by on our way to Burlington Vt. Almost missed brewery but for the alert eyes of my wife! Tasting room was typical, cases of beer and signs promoting various beers, cold cooler on one end. Circular bar held 6 taps featuring both Otter Creek and Wolavers brand brews. Bartender had a good knowledge of beer and styles as well as company history and was very helpful in directing us towards other Vermont breweries. Beer was pretty good, Wolavers Oatmeal Stout and IPA being my favorite from the available brews, and the Otter Creek pale ale (which is distributed in my home area) was already a known quantity. Recommend a stop.

Visité le 8 juillet 2005, avec LadySusan. La boutique est assez intéressant, pas mal tout leur bières en bouteilles étaient disponibles, ce que je ne peux pas dire pour Magic Hat, et il y avait des verres, t-shirt et un paquet de souvenir. J’ai faite la visite guidé (gratuit), c’était bien. À noté, si tu achetes ou déguste de leur bière et tu as l’air d’avoir moins de 30 ans, tu vas te faire carter!

I liked this brewery. I didn’t take a tour, but, had fun talking to the people in the tasting room, which included one of the brewers. They had most of there beers available to try or buy while I was there, except for a few seasonals, which is expected.

Small brewery that also brews Wolaver’s organic beers... the tour gets you in amongst tanks and machinery. If you’re unclear on the beermaking process, this is a good place to go, otherwise the only benefit is to see the organic vs. convential processes. 6 beers to try in the tasting room, decent selection of merchandise (the t-shirt I bought is quite a conversation piece here in Charlottesville, VA). Decent daily specials. Operation seems very tight... some top notch beers. I could drink the Wolaver’s Oatmeal Stout for breakfast.

This place was awesome. Rolled in here on a brewery road trip, and was extremely impressed. We arrived between tours, so we chatted with the girls working the counter, sampled every beer they had at least twice, and enjoyed some great cheese and sausage they had out. Informative, friendly staff, fun tour, totally worth a trip.

The folks at Otter Creek couldn’t be nicer. There is always a beer on tap that you probably have not had anywhere else. Worth a visit. Make a day of it and get lunch at Two Brothers just down the road.

Établissement visité le 13 août lors d’un séjour au Bomoseen Lake State Park. Ambiance: Boutique sans artifice. Je n’ai pas fait la visite guidée par contre. Service: On a nous offert gratuitement une dégustation des produits. La personne à commencé à parler avec nous car nous parlions français et voulait savoir d’où on venait. Sélection: À mon souvenir tout leur produit était disponible mais malheureusement pas en bouteille individuelle sauf les 22 oz. Nourriture: Rien de disponible à part leur 2 excellentes moutardes. (25e rating d’établissement)

I’ve not taken the tour, though I’ve heard it’s OK. The main reason to visit is for the occasional tap-only beers that are available here in growlers and in a very very select number of local outlets (i.e., I’ve never found any place that has them though I haven’t looked really hard). Barrel-aged specials, fruit-accented versions of standards, and a smoked beer are recent offerings. Worth the trip to Middlebury just for this? Probably not, though it’s a nice little town.
