I would not call this a beer place really. They have some drafts they change from time to time but nothing very special. Bottle selection is not very interesting. The food and the ambience is what makes this a place to go to. Perfect for a dinner and two beers.

Quite a busy small place, mostly youngsters although my age is represented as well. Friendly service and knowledge too. Had some nice beers and a local Norwegian dish. Bit noisy for conversation, but it is OK.

A very cozy place with an OK selection of both Norwegian and foreign craft beer. Prices are reasonable. Traditional Norwegian dishes served, also at good prices. Absolutely a place worth a visit when in Bergen.

Nice mixture of armchairs, and booth tables. The food was awesome and the beer although not extensive was good and well priced for Norway. The service was quite good and I had a good night overall

Ahh! I sank into an old fashioned, comfy armchair with a craft beer in my hand. Life wasn’t bad at all in spite of the heavy rain outside. Great food and great beer. Knowledgeable staff and a pleasant mix of locals, students and tourists. Family friendly at daytime. (Visited September 14th 2013)

Nice cafe, friendly atmosphere, friendly staff, rather simply, but invitingly furnished. OK selection of beers including Norwegian Balder and Nøgne Ø, as well as local Waldemar on tap. And mark: Serves traditional Norwegian food!

This one has at least got two great advantages; they open earlier than other centrally located places (at 13.00) in Bergen, and serves beers from the Balder microbrewery. In addition there are beers on tap from Nøgne Ø and Waldemar supported by an interesting range of international bottled beers. Retro-trendy bar and restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Polite service. Strange kind of avantgarde music, however not that disturbing Very short way to other beer related places in Bergen. Likable place (visited 17.09.2012).

A very nice little pub with a good selection of local and imported beers, including Nøgne Ø. Norwegian prices but worth checking out. This was the bar we spent most of our time in, nice selection and atmosphere. Hearty local food too.

The Penguin is nicely located @ the best beer-area of Bergen and is a nice little mainly student targeting place where they in addition to beer serve good traditional home made food. Recently they have updated their beer portfolio and is now as the only available place in Bergen serving Nøgne Ø - Aku Aku Lemongrass and Waldemar Export. Theu also have a OK selection of bottles, but this is more standard bottles you can get at almost any place. It’s decorated with some old furnitures where you can eat and has your typical bar-chairs facing the windows. A nice place to read your newspaper, have a beer and perhaps eat a reasonable meal after work.
