| Onenote81 (72), Winston-Salem, North Carolina | | May 3, 2012 Originally reviewed: 1/25/12. I have wanted to visit this place for as long as I have been on this site, and finally got a chance to swing by today. Like others have noted, the signage for the place isn’t the most obvious, so I drove right by and had to turn around. The store is set in an old house. When I pulled up in the back of the place, there was a ring of chairs in the grass filled with guys smoking cigars. Ahh. What a wonderful aroma to my nose. Nice tobacco smell when you first enter the store, as there is a huge walk-in humidor to the right as you walk in. The beer is sort of scattered about with stacks of cases and sixers smattered around. Though the majority of the beer is to the left near the back. In the very back, there’s a room dedicated to wine, which is nice as well. As for the selection, this place has by far the greatest selection of Belgian brews in the area. I was amazed at the variety of Belgian beers they carried. Many of which I hadn’t seen anywhere else around. There’s one small cooler section that carries a good amount of 12’s and 22’s, as well as some kegs. I didn’t see any growlers at all. The corner of the "beer section" is dedicated to domestic craft offerings, of which they had a decent selection. Grabbed a bottle of Old Rasputin XIV and a cigar and I was on my way. The staff was very friendly and helpful. | | Hussey (12), North Carolina | | March 16, 2012 Incredible place! In a grey house just off Spring Garden near the hippie grocery store. The humidor is AMAZING! and so are the brews. I really like the fact that you can pick up a can/bottle of anything from any six/four pack that interests you. No problem. Super knowledgeable staff. A small but diverse selection of brews. They got the good stuff. | whatalesya (8), , North Carolina does not count - explanation | | January 20, 2012 Doesn’t look like much on the outside, but this is a neat little place! Service is absolutely top notch! When I informed them that I only came through Greensboro occasionally, they said if possible to call a few days before my next trip and tell them what I was looking for; if he didn’t have it he would do his best to get it. The overall selection is a little limited, I think primarily due to space. Ask if you don’t see what you’re looking for. I found out that not everything is on display and they may have what you want in boxes in the back. | jammapamma (2), North Carolina does not count - explanation | | June 15, 2010 I love this place. As a local I really appreciate what the owner is offering, which is Belgian and several bigger American Craft beer. The selection of Belgian beers is by far the best that I’ve seen. Their selection of sours is phenomenal. The owner is so cool that he actually called his distributor in the middle of his lunch when I stopped by, because I mentioned how much I enjoyed Cantillons. He called to see what else he could order.
| | thagr81_us (24), Gaffney, South Carolina | | June 1, 2010 I visited this location a recent trip to Greensboro. Upon looking outside it did not appear that this location would be that good. However upon entering and going to the back, I noticed that they carried quite a nice selection of brews and quite a few I had been looking for. The cigar smell was actually pleasant when I went inside (I don’t smoke). This might have been because there were only two gentlemen in the store at the time in the lounge area. The employees were very nice and chatted with me for awhile and made some suggestions on which other locations I should stop at for some hard to find brews. They also had a VERY nice glassware selection on the top of the shelves. This place is definitely worth dropping in to check it out. | | DankBrews (12), North Carolina | | February 19, 2010 [ Updated June 15, 2010 ] I recently discovered Pipe and Pint, after a friend suggested I check it out. This cigar/beer store is a hidden gem. What appears to be just a cigar store / lounge contains a nice selection of craft and Belgian beers towards the back. There is a focus to what they carry, which is nice to see that they are trying to carve out their own niche in the Greensboro beer scene. Their primary focus seems to be on Belgian and Belgian style (craft) beer, which is an excellent idea. You can find some things in this store unavailable anywhere else in the Greensboro and best of all the prices are very reasonable. Worth checking out if you’re in the area, good value good selection | skippapotamus (1), does not count - explanation | | April 13, 2008 Very interesting, if unorganized, place. Has a few things nowhere else in town will, and it’s always worth asking what they’ve gotten in recently. Reasonable prices for boutique beer, and they don’t advertise at all so spread the word if you dig it. | | 00cobraR (27), Greensboro, North Carolina | | July 6, 2007 Cool little store. If you go, be prepared to smell like a big lit cigar. Past that, they had a nice little collection and if you look around youll find so treasure in there. | | ross (46), weddington, North Carolina | | October 30, 2005 not a bad little store for the beers. they have alot of belgians, some american beers, and some rare stuff. like grat said there’s a bunch of guys sitting around smoking pipes and cigars, but if you get past that (i did) there is alot of good beer hidden in the back. not a bad selection, de dolle, achel, chimay, avery, etc. worth checking out if you are in the area. | grat (6), ST. Louis, Missouri does not count - explanation | | October 25, 2004 Interesting little joint. Shady little building full of old men with scraggly facial hair. It is a pipe shop and beer store. Smells like pipe tobacco...but so will your beers. Selection is very random but there are some prizes hidden beneath the dust and tobacco ash. They carry Cantillon, all of the Avery, some DFH and other local stuff. A cider or two and a cooler full of old bottles from broken sixers. You might find a nice old AOS or something so dig around. Nice men. Burly men. Also have a GREAT selection of pipe tobacco and many locally crafted pipes. |
