| aleph (22), , | | April 25, 2012 Out of place in an out-of-the-way industrial zone, but whatever. It’s a busy place on a Saturday, service can kind of suffer from the crowd, but of course the beers and prices ($1/taster) are hard to beat. Most beers on tap or in bottle, with a great selection of seasonals and harder to find brews. Definitely should go when doing your San Diego brewery tour. | | tkingsbury2 (15), San Diego, California | | March 25, 2012 Its a big open building in an industrial park. Came on a Saturday and it was busy but not suffocatingly so. They have pretty much all their stuff on tap, with reasonable taster prices. There were a lot of brewery tour groups so going on a non-weekend might be advisable. | | Blairgus (55), California | | March 15, 2012 lots of fun! seats are bags of concrete powder on top of empty kegs. it is bustling. lots of port and lost abbey beer on tap. brewery looks like a lot of fun and staff are friendly and outgoing. | | Scopey (150), Croydon, England | | March 15, 2012 We visited here after visiting Stone. Outside it’s fairly unassuming - a unit on a pretty standard looking business park. Inside there is a fairly large bar set in front of the working brewery. There was were probably about 30 beers (be it tap or bottle) on offer from Lost Abbey and Pizza Port. You can drink in or take away. They had all their regulars, some seasonals and a couple of harder to get stuff such as the great Cuvee de Tomme. Prices seemed very good to me. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Best of all we were kindly introduced to the main man himself - Tomme. He spend a lot of time chatting to us and since it was out Honeymoon he even opened a bottle of Veritas 010 for us and picked up the tab - what a generous guy!! We also got a look at the barrel room, which was awesome. All-round great tap room and very friendly and generous people! | | thome50 (10), Boringville aka Irvine, California | | February 18, 2012 Cool brewery. Much more fun and laid back Thursday and Fridays when there are fewer people there. Can be a douchebag fest on weekends if there is a beer tour going on with a bunch of drunk frat bros. The selection is usually everything they produce normally with some obscure stuff in there every so often. The site down anniversary dinners can be a bit cramped. | | GypsyHead (16), California | | February 18, 2012 It was a unique experience, sitting on a keg stool witha grain bag seat, in the middle of a business park... but it was lacking. I’ve never been a huge fan of Lost Abbey brews, and visiting the brewery didn’t do much at all to sway me in their favor. Maybe I got there at the wrong time, but it just had a very awkward atmosphere that made me (a beer lover and barfly) feel very out of place. | oldaverich (5), California does not count - explanation | | February 4, 2012 Low numerical rating, but I love the place. Hard to get served sometimes because it is popular. In an industrial park, but when people come to San Diego and want to go to a brewery this is the first one I recommend. Hop 15 is the best beer on the planet (Earth). | MoreHop001 (3), , does not count - explanation | | January 15, 2012 This place is cool! industrial garage looking thing and you enter through a loading dock door. you sit on empty kegs with sacks of malt but, the bar is awesome, the selection of tap, bottle and now vintage bottles is amazing. Service is very good and friendly. | | Hoser (137), Cowtown, Alberta | | January 13, 2012 I don’t think this is a fair rating as we were Tomee’s guest and the bar was not open. Love the bags of sugar on the kegs for seats and there was ton of great beers. Would love to go back when the place was rocking. | | Lagunitasfan (30), San Diego, California | | January 11, 2012 Was the greatest tasting room I’d ever been to, until the tour busses started making their regular pilgrimage. It’s not the quaint little out-of-the-way place it used to be. Now it’s more like an "event", every night. Lots of their beers on tap, and often an amazing bottle or three to be had. And the fact that you can hang out in a barrel room checking out the labels makes it awesome. |
