As others have mentioned, you come to this pub for the ground floor and the Victorian fixtures and fittings. If I am in London with any foreign friends or relatives I try to bring them here. Obviously the upper floor is just standard. I quite like the breweryís beers so thatís also a plus. The staff are not always the most friendly. However a lovely old pub.
Classic Victorian pub with all the requisite features, tiled floors and etched glass in abundance. The extra stout at £3.40 a pint, was exceptional value in an expensive city like London, although there was only one person serving behind the bar. Very good, but marked down slightly for lack of staff.
Beh uno dei pub piý belli mai visti ! Vittoriano e pomposo classico dellíera del grande impero britannico , sembra di tornare indietro nel tempo , vale la visita per gli interni ma non per la birra anche se viene servita la sempre valida Samuel Adams !
Really interesting place. Very hard to describe but worth a visit. photos donít do it justice. Cubicles can be tricky if youíre in a big group. Of course you can sit upstairs but thereís no real atmosphere up there. Very cheap considering location. A round of 3 for just over a tenner. Good service. Only Sam Smith beers available but thatís fine by me.
If you are into mirrors, this is the place for you, if you like mirrors and cut glass, it is even better for you, if you like mirrors, cut glass and cheap beer, move in!
What a wonderful pub this is, ornate, Victorian and intact, brilliant.
The centre bar is also a wonder in its self, the wood carvings are just lovely.
Sam Smiths beers, only OBB is cask mind, the rest bottled or keg. Like all Sams pubs, they only sell their own spirits, so no Bacardi or Gordons Gin in here, but I believe their own brands are fine.
The ground floor has been revamped, the bar and mirrors are still there, but small snug boards have been erected to brake the room into little bite size chunks. Not sure I like them. The great old toilets (downstairs) havenít been altered thank goodness and the upstairs is now a posh lounge type design, mostly for food or a quiet pint.
Lovely Victorian-style pub that oozes atmosphere. Every surface in this place has some sort of intricate detail on it. They have a very limited selection of beers though - they only carry the Samuel Smiths brand, but those are good too. And usually cheaper than what they have in most other pubs. Donít go here for craft beers, but DO go here to see a fantastic pub whose equal youíll only find in very few places. And enjoy a beer while doing so.
Very nice interior. Victorian aged with everything authentic. Cubicles around the bar. Nice glass, ceiling, walls, even the toilets. Selection focused on Sam Smithís. The beer might not be too exciting, but it is solid. What really makes this pub worth a visit is the interior.
