76 Cozy place right off the beaten path, very long bar with tv’s above the bar and also tables throughout .... very nice staff and a simple but broad menu ... steak frites was very good ... staff was knowledgeable about their beers and although they had minimal taps they had great variety and a few taps not seen at many other bars .... had local stuff mixed in their tap and bottle offerings .... had some tasty pizza boy brews when I was there .... I would definitely stop back if my travels bring me in that area of the city again |
70 Nice small bar nearby the art museum area. A bit out o the way, but there’s usually a horse tied out around back. Nice beer selection, friendly staff, good prices. |
74 This is a neighbourhood bar that’s welcoming and with a solid tap list too. Half the taps were pouring Victory and I think this was a result of a tap takeover rather than the norm. I didn’t order food but the sandwiches coming out looked great. The area outside is a little scruffy and rundown but it’s worth the walk over to check out this characterful bar. |
88 Amazing burger! Lots of good quality selections. Great to hang out after a beerfest!!! |
80 Not the greatest location but an up and coming type area and if the owners of this place keep opening places in the area it will certainly help. Good, friendly service. Solid bar food. They only serve American beer so don’t look for Belgians, but it is a good rotating selection. Mystery keg on Wednesday usually gets something decent and they always have the exclusive Yards Hoppy Lil’ Hudson on hand pull if you don’t anything else they have on. In the past year I’ve had Hill Farmsteads, Funky Buddhas, and many other rare crafts. Also, bring your own vinyl on Sundays and get 20% off your bill. |
60 Loud and dark is how I would characterize this bar. We showed up with 3 people and grabbed a table on a Sunday night. Loud music playing made it tough to have a conversation. The beer selection was just ok compared to other bars in town. For food I grabbed a grilled cheese which was pretty good. Not bad but not a place I’d go running back to either. |
72 Nice semi-old style decor in here, open with a decent sized bar. I like the open floor here, even when the bar was full and the tables were, I never felt cramped. The service here was quick with drinks and very friendly, I enjoyed the staff. The selection wasn’t huge, but they have a cask and a nitro tap with rotating beers and 4-6 (I forget) other beers on tap with a decent bottle list. Prices were very reasonable, I had three beers including a 2007 Expedition Stout for under $20 including tip. I would gladly come here again, no questions. |
80 Hard to find but worth the search. Good variety of beers, nice place, pleasant hard-working bartenders. Crowd a bit on the iffy side, but they can be ignored. |
82 With a large sign that simply reads "Bar," this one is hard to walk by. Unassuming from the interior, as well, Prohibiton offers up a nice lineup of quality beers. I’d say it’s a nice mix between classy and comfortable. Their house beer, hoppy lil hudson (brewed by Yards), is a nice IPA that can be a good session, too. The long bottle list is broken down into styles so you can quickly find what you’re looking for. The bar itself is sort of ’E’ shaped which offers plenty of prime seating. The bartender on my visit was friendly and willing to talk beer with me, even though I was already kinda sauced from the day-long pub crawl. The food was quite tasty, too. They will fill growlers of their brews, which is always nice. I know I’ll be back. |
