Püssirohukelder, located near the university complex in Tartu and thus a popular student pub it seems, is the highest pub in the world, with 10.2 meters from floor to ceiling, according to a sign from the Guinness Book of Records at the entrance of this former arsenal. Built into the hillside, out of red brick stones, this place reminds me of a German beer hall with its heavy wooden tables and furniture and the vast space inside. To boot, they also serve beer in 1 Liter mugs (like the maß of Oktoberfest). The food was pretty standard fare and my mood was slightly lowered by a noisy crowd of Germans on the neighbor table and the slow service. Beer selection was mainly Saku (Pilsner, Original and Rock), even their Püssirohu Punane house beer was brewed by Saku. It tasted pretty standard too. Visited on 2013-07-01.

A nice place to visit - an absolutely beautiful building. Beer selection was poor last time I was there (a couple of years back), but at least had a special blend from Saku as a house beer. Service seems to be not so good the last couple of times I’ve been here. The house beer at happy hours is cheap!

Very lively place in quiet Tartu, young student crowd. Placed in old ammunition (gun powder) warehouse. very nice athmosphere in this old building.
Own homebrew and several Saku on tap + even more Estonian on bottle.
Be aware they like to serve homebrew in 1 liter glasses.
