| j12601 (214), Poughkeepsie, New York | | January 16, 2010 While the basement feel of the place (old looking carpet and dark lighting) does detract, I was greeted by the cutest little dog when I walked in. Friendly and adorable and apparently the guard dog. Though I’m pretty sure the only way he’d stop you from shoplifting would be because you’d be going "awwww" while he tried to bite you in the throat. Selection here was ok, nothing crazy, but a few things I hadn’t seen in other beer store stops today, and I did manage to find a bottle or so to go home with me. The earlier review that you can break sixes is quite inaccurate. They have signs on every cooler asking you not to break sixes. Which is a shame, since I’d have bought probably 12-15 more bottles if I was allowed to buy singles. I really didn’t want 15 six packs of beers I’ve never had. | | BREWMUSKCLES (74), New Jersey | | March 25, 2009 O.K. place is a little bit more expensive and the ambiance is dank and damp (as well as old) but there is a decent supply of brews and i have beern surprised from time to time what i can find here. Boak,Founders and some nice Belgians as well as hard to find Allagash and Avery, and Affigem. I like the guy who runs the place he is a good businessman and appreciates his customers and he provides for some interest in the shopping experience with specials and such. | askjaer (1), Frederiksberg C, Denmark does not count - explanation | | February 28, 2009 Was in the area on business and walked in here by chance and got very pleasantly surprised. Mainly a wine shop but the whole back wall is lined with a wide selection of beer. They do stock the Belgian classics but seem to focus on American craft beer. Had a wide selection of different craft beers from all over the nation plus some local micro brews. The shop keeper was very helpful, knowing and got me several specialties from out back. I got good recommendations to try new beers based on the beers and styles that I said I liked. They sell individual bottles out of 6-packs. |
