Cool German beer hall with great live music, lots of the typical long communal table seating and outside area. The draft list is all the regular German offerings, and I believe some belgian as well. Food was pretty good too.

Visited May 2012.
Hell yeah, a liter of Vitus and some sausage to finish the night. Really cool place, even if there arenít any crazy rare beers available. They have a good selection of German beers and some other European lagers as well as some pretty good German food. The main room is a large hall with a bar in the middle and some tables around the outside. Outside on the patio are more tables and while I was there (they probably always have this) they had a grill set up for sausages. I found it interesting that there is a cash only grill for sausage outside and inside you can order other food from the tables. Also ordered some potato salad. The service was pretty slow but if you have a liter of Vitus in front of you and they keep refilling the water I guess it doesnít matter. Will definitely return if in the area again.

This should be rated much higher as a bier spot. Itís a Williamsburg staple at this point and gets super crowded during prime hours..prices to match. But is awesome if you play it smart. The beer list is great for German and Belgian, though nothing to write home about. Itís just a seriously well designed establishment. Oh and the sausages are a great deal and awesome. Their pork chop is one of my favorite meals in the hood. For service go to the bar. You will wait forever at a table in the hall for a beer. They seem to be getting more serious about craft beer as well with occasional events.

Been here twice. It seemed like they have improved it from what it was. There used to be just 12 taps of standard European beers, but now they added another 7 or so that are supposed to represent more obscure beers, and, truly, there were three or four beers on that list that I did not already have. However, all of the beers are somewhat overpriced. I donít think that there is anything cheaper than $7 for 500ml. The crowd is varied, but I saw some wicked lame people on a Saturday night. The food looks legit, but the guy serving it was a douche. He blatantly told me mate that the kitchen was closed when it was obvious that it wasnít. I saw people get food thirty minutes later... The ambiance is generally pretty cool. I like the long tables, dim lighting, and Deutsch decor. Not the best place for a beer snob, but with the new taps, you might find a relatively obscure beer.

This is great if you are hanging out with a bunch of friends. Actually very popular with a number of my old friends from college (who now all live in Brooklyn). However, in terms of beer you wonít see a wide variety. The major draw is the German beer house ambiance and large beer servings.

A fun venue for a night out with friends. They have some authentic German meat with a nice array of mustards. In terms of beer the selection is decent but probably not too impressive to a hardcore beer geek. Prices are fairly high, service is good, venue has a nice ambience. Not bad.

Came here with a large group - actually we were supposed to be meeting at barcade, but they complained that there was only "poser beer" on tap, and they wanted to get real (imported) beer (WTF? - what a bunch of posers!). Anyway, the tap list is boring, the bottle list is better, but definitely overpriced. Place is crowded, but the service didnít suffer too much because of it. If you can get a seat, this is a good place for a good time, though not a great place for trying interesting/rare beer. Picked a few ticks I was looking for, but donít see a need to come back (especially with other gems in the area). Didnít have any food, but I hear good things.

Place has the right look and feel for a German bier hall, but the service can be slow (theyíre often overworked with enormous crowds) and the draft beer selection is sub-par and never really changes. Prices are moderate. A decent place, but there are much better places to drink in the neighborhood.

Best German-style beer hall Iíve seen in the US! Good selection of the appropriate styles (really enjoyed the Palm Ale), community seating in one half of the bar, decent service on my one visit (very busy night). Did not try the food, but Iíve been told itís very good for what they serve (grilled sausages/brats and some more involved German dishes). A bit on the spendy side, but this is a popular neighborhood and they have a very large space.
