| voota (92), Melbourne, Australia | | August 10, 2009 Lovely little brewpub in a beautiful spot. The beers arer fantastic, didn’t eat the food but it looked great. Loved the hop bines which wind their way around the beer garden. It’s remote location is both a good point and a bad point I guess. One of the best beer venues in Victoria. | | UnholyBrewing (17), Melbourne(Mulgrave), Australia | | April 6, 2009 ...well, I thought this was a pretty nice place, in an even better location. THe blonde who served me was pretty hot too, which is always a plus, ha. The only beer that I sampled there that I thought was exceptional was the wheat. I woulud have that it was brewed in Germany. The other three(scotch ale, golden ale, and belgian blonde) were less than empressive. But this is about the place. THe tomato soup was pretty damn good, and the roast duck with caramelized figs was spectacular. It was cool to see the hop vines growing there too. It is far from here, that’s for sure, but a good place to stop by if you are in the area. And the bar guy definitely knew his beers. Overall, a pretty sweet place. | | Stew41 (71), Caulfield, Australia | | July 31, 2008 There’s no doubt abuot the quality of the beer (state’s best brewer?) but this place should be viewed as more of a nice cafe, in a very nice part of the world, that just happens to serve its own beer. Kinda like Brew Moon in NZ in this respect. Apparently now very busy with the wine tourists. Service from bar dude was very good but food wait staff was appalling (made it very clear that they weren’t paid to serve desserts after 4.30pm despite closing at least after 5.00pm). I sell these beers in Melbourne and will take up the service (or lack of) with the owner. | | mullet (133), Melbourne, Australia | | November 12, 2005 [ Updated January 14, 2008 ] I love this place. The beers are great (see my ratings,) the hops are all grown on the premises, food is excellent with a focus on local produce and it’s a great place to have a beer. The only problem is that it’s so freaking far from anything - designated driver required. Update: As the business has grown this place has started to get really packed in summer. It’s best to visit on a weekday outside of the summer holidays, if at all possible. Food becomes a set menu over summer and you’ll struggle to get a table if you just want a beer. But it’s busy because, you know, it’s good. |
