| mikehops (10), Illinois | | May 22, 2012 Pretty good Prime Rib. Staff always around to serve. Plan on a wait if going around dinner hour. It’s worth it. | Ejc302 (1), oak park , Michigan does not count - explanation | | April 11, 2012 the best place ever !!!! | | mikem409 (40), bloomfield, Michigan | | November 18, 2011 over rated clap clap clap clap | | MikeF (205), Cleveland, Ohio | | April 24, 2011 On Sat Night --- Very Very crowded. As one might expect, this place has a very rustic atmosphere. Service was a little slow. The draft beer list was small with a couple of interesting brews, otherwise unremarkable. They have a pretty extensive bottle list, however. The burgers are very very good --- the real reason to come here. Worth a stop if you are looking for a great burger and a good beer. | sleestak (6), Williamston, Michigan does not count - explanation | | April 15, 2011 Entering the Redcoat Tavern is like stepping in time. Very old school decor, and dimly lit. Tap selection was decent, but not stellar. Many bottles, however, with no prices listed. My burger was excellent, but a bit spendy. I was a little miffed that the fries on the side were a nearly $5 adder. (They were just okay, to be honest.) Staff was more interested in talking to regulars, but were appropriately attentive. Glad I tried it, but I’ve had far better tavern fare at a much better price. | Precept53 (1), West Bloomfield, Michigan does not count - explanation | | August 23, 2010 Great Burgers and very nice beer selection, an institution in Metro Detroit. Be prepared to wait but the food is worth it! | | BeerBaron617 (25), Royal Oak, Michigan | | December 23, 2009 I went here last night with MereLikesBeer. I thought this place was epic. Besides the wait for a table(no reservations) The whole experience was amazing. The beer selection was better than average, the food was incredible, and the environment, although crowded, was quite relaxed. They are known for their burgers, but I had the cubano sandwich, which was amazing. Mere had the beef tips, which were equally as good. I had the Hibernation ale from great divide, and Mere had the Affligem Noel. Great place to stop by if you’re in the Metro Detroit area. Cheers! | MereLikesBeer (4), Royal Oak, Michigan does not count - explanation | | May 26, 2009 This place has one of the best burgers in town and a great listing of available beers. Clearly a place you want to go to if you are in the metro Detroit area. They have a decent selection, though not huge, of beers on tap - ranging from your run of the mill to their "beer of the moment." They have a very extensive listing of available bottles. Get a burger, don’t worry about anything else on the menu. This place is great, the service is amazing, and the atmosphere is really relaxed. | | trayns (23), Beverly Hills, Michigan | | February 9, 2009 Hands down best place for a Beer and Burger in Michigan. This place is a suburban Detroit staple. Easily one of the best beer menus around town.
Ask for a beverage menu, most times they have seasonal beers on tap and in the bottle that aren’t even listed on the standard beer menu, which consists of well over 80 beers. Most are in the bottle, but there are some rarities from Belgium and American Micros. Great variety of classic premium beers and obscure rarities.
Spend your time selecting your beer, because your food choice is easy - CheeseBurger. Rated best Burger in Metro Detroit. They allow you to create your own burger. Options range from premium Piedmontese beef, grilled rye, pumpernickel, banana peppers, and plenty of cheeses to choose from. Don’t forget to order the onion rings - light, crispy and the best I’ve had.
Great atmosphere, frie | | mstockton (24), Frankfurt, Germany | | September 17, 2006 Easily the best burger I’ve ever had. It’s a metro Detroit legend. What an atmosphere...looks like it has not changed sicne it was opened 30-40 years ago. Dark and red-lit. The bar is tight and the drinks are strong. The menu boasts an incredible beer list...one of the largest bottle lists in metro-Detroit. Food is reasonably priced. Beers are a little higher, but who cares? When the burgers are this good, it’s worth a typically long wait at the bar and the dodging of busy waitresses. |
