Great beer event(s). | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 italianjohn (151) Penndel, Pennsylvania | April 11, 2012 Nice neighborhood with some swanky row homes and more low key and less crowded area .... inside is small but cozy nice sized bar with small seating areas and a couple of booths ... server was very prompt and recommended food off the menu which was very open minded .... had the pork sandwich which was awesome and hand cut fries .... port mongo on tap and a decent mix of 12 brews plus a hand pump .... ask for a bottle list which has a small yet tasteful list of belgians/belgian inspired brews .... all in all an awesome place to grab a bite, brew in a laid back clean atmosphere | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 pvequalsnrt (10) Norristown, | February 16, 2012 this is one of my favorite spots in philly. away from the old city/downtown/university city crowds, tucked away as you head towards west philly on gray’s ferry. great spot.
food is great, menu changes every so often. not a ton of taps (13) but no BMC at all, even one devoted to a cask. theme nights show up now and again. even though it’s a little dark inside, it’s still warm and inviting. some would say it’s small, but i say it’s cozy. i love the furniture. oh, and i love the curry dipping sauce for the fries. good stuff. i’ve been back often. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Capa (248) Manama, Bahrain | November 11, 2011 Small and cozy bar. Barkeep was friendly and so were the patrons, which is more important than people think, IMO. Thirteen taps (one is cask) offering many locals and a Belgian or two. Not very crowded on an early Friday afternoon which is good because it has a very angular bar area which would make a crowd difficult I think. Food looked good but I didn’t have any. Comfortable and relaxing. Good spot. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 j12601 (262) Poughkeepsie, New York | April 5, 2010 Stop two on our Philly Beer Raid tour that featured Local 44 first, and Memphis Taproom after. As it was a beautiful day when we went, the large window was open allowing a nice cool airflow through the mid afternoon. Big clean white space with light wood and a very open feel. Went with a few of the local taps that I hadn’t had before and they were fairly decent. Nothing compared to the splendor that was the pickle plate though. House made, varying items based on season and such. Ours that day featured two traditional pickles, dill and bread and butter (amazing, and I usually don’t like these), okra (not for me), beets (utterly delicious and earthy), and grapes. First pickled grapes I’ve ever had, and with a hint of orange and anise they were awesome. I’ll be making these myself sometime (minus the anise). | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 bp (57) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | September 27, 2009 My wife and I checked out the newly opened Resurrection Ale House this weekend. The place is very nice but small. Beer selection was very good Cantillon, Lost Abbey, Russian River, Schlenkerla on draft with plenty of local/regionals like Dogfish, Yards, PBC and Brooklyn. Nice bottle list as well. Food was good though I found the oyster sandwich lacking flavor. I’d skip that unless they change the way they prepare it and the bread they serve it on. Prices were reasonable. Overall, a place to check out and if they keep bringing in good beers a possible destination spot. |
