| promtheus (23), Virginia | | January 2, 2010 [ Updated January 5, 2010 ] I do love this place. The service is spectacular, and if you go upstairs a few times the staff actually learns your name. If you are personable, they will help you select beers and are really great for conversation. Their local brews are not that great, but the atmosphere and the people are worth a visit! | tpatrickr (5), Richmond, Virginia does not count - explanation | | October 11, 2009 Richbrau is a bit af a maze of dining rooms and bars. Selection of house brews offers something for evry beer fan. All house brews are, in my opinion, quite respectable, and growlers are available. Three pack of 22oz bottles are very popular. There is also a full bar with a reasonable wine list. Food is above average for a brew pub. Service can be dicey on a buisy weekend night, but is outstanding at any other time. | | MaltDawg (15), Richmond, Virginia | | September 13, 2009 [ Updated September 16, 2009 ] In the heart of Shockoe Slip in downtown Richmond. Buildings are old cotton/tobacco warehouses. Stock beers are okay. Seasonals are hit or miss but the brewer works hard to put new stuff on tap. Service is usually excellent but bar tenders don’t always know the full scoop on the beers. Growlers, bottles, kegs to go. Food is pretty good. | | phukktifano (12), Baltimore, Maryland | | May 27, 2009 Beautiful old pub building on the historic cobblestones of Richmond. The beer is good but the place gets crowded. Food is pricey but tasty. | | TheBeerGod (98), Newport News, Virginia | | April 26, 2008 Went here during the 6th Richmond Gathering. Nice downtown location and pretty inside with lots of dark wood. Gave it that old feel. Beers were only OK on my trip - one good one and two that were off. The only food I had was an appetizer but it was very tasty! Had the onion rings. Bit greasy, but what do you expect from fried food. Otherwise, some of the better onion rings I’ve had in a while. Service seemed good. Would go back once they get their lines replaced/bad beer out. | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | April 22, 2008 [ Updated January 3, 2010 ] In the old part of town, so lots of wood paneling and old looking ambience, which I happen to like a lot, being old stock Virginian myself. No food, but the sampler was nice, as were the people, even if they could have known more about their beer selection. Good beers, though there were some signs of infection. Overall good, and I plan to go back again and again. | | Butters (164), Richmond, Virginia | | February 7, 2008 Decently fun atmosphere. Nice pub feel downstairs. Upstairs is more like a poolhall. Unfortunately it turns into a dance club on the weekeneds. I’m not crazy about any of there standard beers but a few of there seasonals have been pleasant suprises, such as their Raspberry Wheat for instance. I find it too pricey to drink very much there. A pitcher set me back $17. But the real deal is to get a growler fill for cheap and go drink somewhere else. | | Aurelius (105), Tallahassee, Florida | | September 20, 2007 In a nice historic section of the city. A clean, but old, pub feel to the place. Food was OK. Beer is a bit homebrewy. Easily accessible, parking may be dodgy. Friendly waitstaff. 6-7 brews on tap, three bomber bottles to buy. | gmatt (1), Virginia does not count - explanation | | August 22, 2007 Overcrowded and too loud on weekends. Pints overpriced.
Empty on weekdays, dollar select house drafts on Monday nights. | | bryandhargrave (13), Richmond, Virginia | | June 5, 2007 I am very partial to Richbrau. I love the people who run it, I love the building that it is in. I love the freakin Chili. Old Nick is a wonderful pale ale with a lot of character. Lots to do, pool, darts, club, food, beer. The attatched Taphouse always has a great variety of craft brews on tap. Prices are not high, they are Shockoe. |
