Located at the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC. Has an inside which I haven’t seen, but an outside patio that overlooks the man-made river and rapids. Typical pub grub to eat, but instead of being made in the back of a bar they probably have a descent kitchen, so the food is a notch above a typical pub. Outdoor beer stand lets you walk up and buy a beer and walk around the facility so you can watch the rock climbers, bikers, joggers, but best of all the rafters. Sit at the patio, have a beer from their descent draft selection (all domestic micros) or get a standard macro bottled beer instead. This place had a selection of beers from Greensboro’s local Red Oak brewery. Best of all, sit outside and watch the rafters learn how to navigate rapids. You may be entertained with wash outs and groups on rafts going upside down. They do get backed up and don’t take reservations, so just let the waitress know if you are feeling rushed by them to clear the table. They have entertainment some nights, and the night we were there they had a local blue grass band playing next to the river. I think it was 5 dollars to get into the facility by car, and then the food prices were average. Walking around is free, and I recommend it because it might give you the urge to learn how to kayak in rapids, and then finish the day with a good brew.
