| mansquito (32), washington, Washington DC | | December 11, 2011 Went on a Saturday and sat at the bar. I had three different beers there (the dry stout, chocolate stout, and Fallen Angel). The beers were generally good. The bartenders were very attentive and generous with the pours (getting tripels in 20oz pint glasses is pretty cool). I also had a bunch of bombs and specialty shots and those were well-prepared as well. Nice smoking section patio. Yes, this is in a mall, but once you get inside of the place, it ceases to matter. The band playing that night could have use a few extra music lessons and a little bit of lowering the volume. Beer selection was pretty good. There were probably ten taps or so and two casks. I enjoyed my time there and was ultimately pleasantly surprised by the place. Only had the artichoke dip from the food menu, and that was fine, but nothing special obviously. | | radagast83 (80), Fairfax, Virginia | | March 13, 2011 Pretty typical American-standard restaurant. Prices are pretty decent considering location in towards the city. Waiters and bartenders have been attentive the last times I’ve been there, and the food has always been good when I’ve ordered. The beers I’ve tried have ranged from adequate to exceptional. | | ericschoon (11), Pennsylvania | | February 19, 2011 A good local feeling bar with it’s own brew. Good valvue on the beer price quality ratio with a decent selection of food. Every time I have went, I had good service regardless of the size of the group. A good place to unwind with decent refreshments. | | BeerandBlues2 (358), Lone Tree, Colorado | | October 16, 2010 This is the first Rock Bottom I have visited that is located in a mall. The place is small and, did I say, located in a mall. The staff is as attentive as is necessary, but nothing special. They did have a few special taps available, which was nice. The menu is exactly the same as all other Rock Bottom locations. Ho hum. | | NobleSquirrel (161), Chicago, Illinois | | August 28, 2010 Stopped in here when I was in DC on vacation. Wanted to check this one out as it is the former home of the newest brewer at RB Chicago, Chris Rafferty. Odd setting in a mall, but it works. Standard Rock Bottom feel of a chain restaurant, though with local influences. Food is decent and the brewing is quite technically sound. Definitely worth stopping in as they ad about 10-12 beers on tap. | | j12601 (214), Poughkeepsie, New York | | December 5, 2009 Second brewpub bartender in Arlington who advised against a sampler. Got one anyway. At $7 for 10 generous pours, I’d guess the tips are better with full pours, so I fixed that. If there were more than 2 good beers there, $7 for 10 pours would have been a steal. Still a good value though. Atmosphere was interesting. Big college football Saturday, but the place is so large and in a mall, that it probably doesn’t get packed, so there were just small pockets of shouting and a nice relaxed vibe. Beers ranged from really good to gag inducing...so the general brewpub experience really. Didn’t get food, but it looked like the generic brewpub menu with nachos, pizzas, burgers, at the average sort of prices. | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | May 5, 2009 The ambience is quite nice considering this is a mall location. Being a mall, there is a large parking garage that is cheap. $1 for 3 hours, $2 for the whole day. Staff is friendly but a bit standoffish. Medium priced and wide ranging menu. I got chicken fried chicken that had good flavors but the chicken was overcooked and tough. Beers were solid. One standout, one disappointing, the rest pleasant and drinkable. They were a little hesistant to provide a sampler but finally relented. Worth a stop if you’re in the area. | | ben4321 (117), Hoboken, New Jersey | | March 5, 2009 Better then the Bethesda version because their standard offering list is more robust. This chain has solid beers, but certainly not over the top great. | | gsmitty80 (153), Washington DC | | December 13, 2008 Went here for a colleagues birthday party. We were outside in the "patio" which was the mall. Ive never really drank in a mall before and dont think i will much more. The beers were surprisingly good and the prices were fair as well. I may try a different location that is not in a mall. | | branspra (17), Arlington, Virginia | | September 9, 2008 I spend every Sunday here watching the Pittsburgh Steelers as they have the NFL package. Great sports bar with good food and on Sundays, great beer specials with refills cheap and you get to keep the glass. Probably not a great place to eat dinner, but the service in both bars is very good on gameday. |
