| high_on_hops (11), Missouri | | May 2, 2012 One of the best selections in KC. The beer manager (Brad) is friendly, familiar with all of his stock, tweets new arrivals several times per week, and has given me some great recommendations. The other clerks seem to be hit-or-miss as far as customer service goes. I also appreciate that they keep a few of the rarer seasonals behind the counter. All-in-all, it’s definitely my go-to beer store for the southern KC area. | | jcnielsen (26), Kansas City, Missouri | | March 26, 2012 This is my go-to liquor store in the Kansas City area (although it helps that it is only 0.5 mile from my work). When you walk in, the store looks like your average mid-sized liquor store, but the beer selection is on par with the best liquor stores in the metro area. Brad is always at the store to let you know what new beers are in and always willing to help out and give recommendations. | Crixus (1), Kansas City, Missouri does not count - explanation | | January 6, 2012 Royal Liquors is my preferred retail outlet in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.
For the store’s size and floor space in a "per capita" like fashion I would venture to say they have as good a selection as any in relative comparison to others stores of the same available retail floor space.
The tangible area this store succeeds in is service. Brad the Beer Manager is one of the more knowledgeable beer staff in the Metro area, lending his opinion per request, with the friendliest and most professional demeanor.
In it’s relative location (within 10 sq miles) you will not find another store with the same selection or knowledgeable staff. | | beastiefan2k (141), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | December 11, 2011 One of the 2 best stores in KC (Lukas Martin City is the other). However, this may be the direst good store I have ever been too. The employs look like punk rockers in need of work (not much use in helping you). They get all the good beer, have good prices and sometimes nice sales. Have a very good port selection as well and nice discounts on wine sometimes. They do tastings but I have never been. Some of the really good beers get hidden behind the counter but I never know when to ask. | Big_Pete (2), Missouri does not count - explanation | | November 8, 2011 Not the greatest liquor store by any means, but it did in a pinch. Last time I was there it snowed 9 inches and they were closing early. I bought what I needed and left. Looks like a giant convienience store. | | BVery (227), Burnsville, Minnesota | | August 28, 2011 Watt’s Mill location - was here a couple years back but didn’t get my rating entered. Kind of a serve-yourself store, but a nice selection, including quite a few that I couldn’t get in Minnesota. Left with a trunk full of beer - what’s new. | | SudsMcDuff (112), .....Manchester United.........., Texas | | June 9, 2011 [ Updated August 19, 2011 ] Most of the beer is expired.. at least 85% of all craft/import bottles were dusty, black sedimented or past due date, and I spent 45 minutes looking at nearly every item... this place wasted my time, and most importantly my money.. the employees didn’t offer any help either, all they did was talk to each other and laugh..about the worst service i have encountered in a beer establishment... | | HomeBrewHawk (20), De Soto, Kansas | | March 14, 2010 Not sure why I haven’t rated this place as I’m listed as mayor! I buy a lot of beer here, because it is the closest Missouri store to my work. They have really been one of the top beer stores in the KC area recently. They get most of the hard to find and limited beers in. There are some guys that know a bit about beer. Atmosphere is nothing to speak about. I worry about the freshness of some of the beers. Prices tend to be a little high. Great wine selection if you are into that. | htlp12 (8), does not count - explanation | | March 10, 2010 Decent, if unremarkable. Like others have mentioned, this place is essentially a giant convenience store, and the service matches. Cashwrap is surrounded with goodies and new arrivals, so make sure you dig around to find things in there too. Pretty good selection, better than the local Gomer’s South, but less than Lukas. If you’re in the area, check it out, but I wouldn’t go out of my way. | | KapitiCritique (32), Kansas City, Missouri | | January 6, 2010 Open everyday of the year--no holidays. Should be a rating parameter but it ain’t.
On the other hand the staff are just marking time. You know what you want, fine. Otherwise, spend time elsewhere if you have the time. |
