I stopped in here for a beer and a late-night snack, and was pretty pleased with what I found. The place has sort of a college bar ambiance, but it was friendly, there were TVs to watch, and the wait-staff was pleasant. The tap list was respectable, about 20 beers, including one from the Bruery that I was interested to try. The place specialized in cheese-steaks, which for some reason they insist on putting cheese-whiz on. I tried one, and it was OK. I got pretty ill later on in the evening, but upon reflection, I think that was due to my meal at BXL Belgian Cafe and not here...but the cheese whiz definitely didn’t help matters. I thought this was a nice friendly spot where the beer didn’t necessarily match the ambiance, but was a nice place nonetheless. Not a must-see certainly, but a place worth stopping if you’re wandering down 9th Ave.

I expected more of a sports bar than a pure bar. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this watering places a strong emphasis on the bar vibe, with a strong selection of beers and some high quality eats to accompany them. Yes, there are about five flat panel TVs screening various sporting events, but with the volume down low they provide a pleasing diversion and are by no means intrusive. I had a great time at Shorty’s and my friends, who know the bar better than I do, swear by it. I would certainly return to this place for a drink or a meal.

went there with the wife after trying to see a movie down in chelsea only to be told it was sold out! it was thundering hard so i figured i should get to the port authority and hang out close by so as not to get hit with the deluge of rain that was coming (and it came) and make it harder to get back to Jersey, my beautiful other little state of mind. So i was kinda pissed....i tell this because this smart little joint got me feeling better and i am thankful! nice, friendly pretty lady bartender looked like one of the dixie chicks and did’nt act like it (Thank God) she also had some beer knowledge to boot, and a four flight $12 special that included some pretty damn good beers and was a really great value. pair that with the really good food of good quality and walla....you got a pretty damn good place here!

Small dark divey looking bar just a stone’s throw from Times Square. Stopped in yesterday for a quick pint before heading down to meet Duff at the Blind Tiger. Normal prices for midtown but with a solid selection. I like the Unibroue tower in particular. Didn’t eat while I was in, but the people eating behind me seemed pretty happy with their selection. Can’t complain about this spot.

AMBIANCE: Small bar, darkly lit with a couple of flat screens and typical radio playing. SERVICE: Waitress was timely, polite, and nice. SELECTION: A few solid beers on tap including a Unibroue station (equipped with Trois Pistoles and Maudite). The beer was served with proper glassware - which is always a plus. FOOD:The Italian Fries were amazing, my buddies said the cheesesteaks were great. Everything was reasonably priced.

Went here on May 8th, ’09. Coupled with Jredmond and a few other fellows from Meddy, NJ. Very good location to catch a brew while you wait for your bus @ Port Authority, finish a movie at the Regal or AMC, or walking around in Times Square. Beers are fairly priced. A pint of Unibroue is about 6 bucks. They have Maudite and Trois Pistoles on tap + proper glassware! Awesome selection of another 20 or so brews. Some unusual, some not so much. I would say this is better than Pats or Genos. The cheese steaks are just as delicious, friendlier service, food came out rediculously fast, and it’s all coupled with tasty beers. Good specials. Only downfall is a somewhat sketchy crowd. As more people discover it, I would expect it to get better.

Glad to see this is already added. I love this place. 1 block from my brothers apt, so Im here all the time. about 20 taps mostly with craft beers and a few really nice selections. The last few times I was there I was drinking pints of nugget nectar. Location is pretty good- and really close to the Port Authority. Interior is a typical small bar, clean and nice- a few TV’s. Bartenders have always been very friendly and service is very fast. Ok- so the best part about this place are the cheesesteaks. Probably the best cheesesteak I have ever had- and I have been to all the best places in Philly- Dallesandros, Jims, Pats, Genos, etc- even Tony Lukes. Well technically these are the same thing as Tony Lukes, as I think it is the same owners? Anyway the bread is the same (shipped up from Philly every day and the meat is the same exact cut. Tastes the same (well I think shortys actually did taste a slight bit better). But the big difference is you are at a great beer bar and the last few t
