So I was about to eat somewhere else so I passed on the cheese steak but as it turns out I shouldn’t have. I also got a kick out of the Chili Cheesesteak, in addition of course to the fact that this is a bar for fans of Philadelphia sports. My kind of place. The beer selection is large but not very impressive. I took the opportunity to try a glass of the Bronx Brewing golden ale. It was kind of boring as expected but I was curious to try it. They have some decent options on tap like Troegs, Anchor, and Great Divide. Nice atmosphere and from the sounds of it good food, but not the best place for beer.

Conveniently located near the Port Authority terminal (the main terminal for buses to/from NYC) is this neighbourhood small kind-of-sport-bar with a decent beer selection. About 20 taps that include 4 or 5 macros because Shorty’s is not a beer geek place. Too many sports tv screens for my taste. The beer selection is ok with mostly session beers from the likes of Captain Lawrence, Brooklyn, Kelso, Green Flash, some Belgians and a few micros. There was only 2 bigger beers both time I was there. But you don’t go to Shorty’s for the beer, you go to Shorty’s for the ultra greasy Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and you drink a beer while waiting for your 5,000 calories sandwich. That cheese steak was highly recommended to me by local fatso dickinsonbeer and I wasn’t disappointed. I went back on my following visit in NYC good thing they don’t make those in my neck of the woods.

Nice place right next to the port authority , decent cheesesteak (a little small), but nailed the bread. Had a great special pretty much everyday but usually nothing special or good otherwise prices are standard manhattan. Cute bartenders though.

After a good day of drinking at Dadtoberfest at the Dad Pad a bunch of us came here for some food and another beer or so. It was Sunday night and there was football on. We grabbed a few small tables and settled in for a beer and cheesesteaks. I went with one of the two vegetarian sammich options, a broccoli raab and spicy peppers with cheese option, which was fantastic. Figure about $10 a sandwich, and each one feeds roughly one drunk person, or a little more than a normal person. We also split some onion rings which were fantastic. Fun place to go for a couple of beers. Tap list is solid, and mostly up to date on beermenus, or at least within a week to check on what kinds of things they have.

this is a true Philly sports bar in the heart of NY. located pretty close to the port authority, this is a great place to go for lunch when your looking for an awesome cheesteak alongside of a great selection of beer. Ive been a NY sports fan all my life, but will certainly take my yankee hat off just to be accepted as part of the crowd lol!!!

25 taps of mostly decent microbrews (Allagash Curieux, Kelso Nut Brown, Fire Island, Southampton Double Wit). And the 12$ lunch deal is good...a Philly cheese steak and a pint. The sandwich was excellent and juicy. Friendly service. Worth it if your in the area.

Delicious cheesesteak, pretty decent beer menu. Not much else to say. Great for a quick bite to eat if you want to keep drinking and don’t want a serious sit-down dinner.

Blue collar place close to Times Square. Decent amount of seating and friendly service make this a great place for this area of Manhattan. Nothing rare here but they did have a few good local brews. The Cheese Steak is really good.

I stopped in here for a beer and a late-night snack, and was pretty pleased with what I found. The place has sort of a college bar ambiance, but it was friendly, there were TVs to watch, and the wait-staff was pleasant. The tap list was respectable, about 20 beers, including one from the Bruery that I was interested to try. The place specialized in cheese-steaks, which for some reason they insist on putting cheese-whiz on. I tried one, and it was OK. I got pretty ill later on in the evening, but upon reflection, I think that was due to my meal at BXL Belgian Cafe and not here...but the cheese whiz definitely didn’t help matters. I thought this was a nice friendly spot where the beer didn’t necessarily match the ambiance, but was a nice place nonetheless. Not a must-see certainly, but a place worth stopping if you’re wandering down 9th Ave.
