| jwbrewing (11), Reno, Nevada | | October 13, 2009 Some of the best beer in Reno. Great food. I love the barley crusted chicken sandwich. If you passing through Reno, this is a stop you should make. If you there during the summer make sure to sit on the patio. | | illinismitty (224), Nashville, Tennessee | | September 28, 2009 I stopped in late and sat at the bar, which had video gambling built into the bar table. I definitely has a casino bar ambiance, but I found that sort of fun. They actually had a wide selection of beers for a brewpub, and I sampled them all, which ranged from average to good. Prices were very reasonable. I did not eat, but the service at the bar was excellent. | | kmweaver (113), Sebastopol, California | | October 15, 2008 Stopped here in the late afternoon to try a sampler. Big, multi-leveled building in a seemingly quiet section of Reno. Patio bar and seating, large bar downstairs, and lots of bar and dining seating on two levels. Very friendly service, cheap beer ($8 growler fills), and plenty of things on tap, including four or five seasonals: Smoked Chile Lager, Wee Heavy, Oktoberfest, and Framboozin’ Wheat Wine, of the ones I recall. Everything I tried was above-average or excellent, including the Porter and Hefeweizen from their standard lineup. Really impressed with the beer and the people here, and looking forward to going back. | | BuckeyeBoy (58), Boise, Idaho | | September 6, 2007 The best Brewery in RENO. Very clean along with a nice set-up. They had about 15 taps on. 12 of there own ($6.50) for all 12. Theye also had a good selection of other beers. Fast and friendly service. | | ratman197 (105), Arvada, Colorado | | June 4, 2007 Semi-fancy well lit place. Fairly comfortable. The service was good but they did’nt want to hang out long enough to awnswer a lot of questions. The beer selection was good with 8 selections. The food was to foo foo for me so I did’nt order any. Allright pub, but I enjoy Great Basin more. | Cmonirene (7), Marina, California does not count - explanation | | November 26, 2005 delicious. food was excellent and the beer was awesome. as a vegeterian i had more options than i regularly do at brewpubs. they are not picky about filling growlers from other breweries so that’s pretty cool. the staff is super nice. if you have a chance to meet the brew master introduce yourself and compliment him on his craft. i heart you silver peak. | 0o9i (9), Reno, Nevada does not count - explanation | | June 9, 2005 Food is predictably good--some dishes are top notch--desserts are good. Ambiance is nice and caters to a yuppy type. Beer is usually decent, although I’ve had two unpleasant beers here--ESB and Prodigal Ale. Luckily the brewer often tweaks the beers that aren’t on tap constantly and this is subject to change--IPA has evolved quite a bit over a year + in tasting. Seating is available outside, on an upstairs balcony, up and downstairs, or at a bar with a view of some of the brewing equipment. Service is always good. Growlers are $4/fill on full moons. A place for a nice dinner, and maybe a nice beer too with a dynamic selection of seasonals. | | BückDich (215), McCall, Idaho | | October 4, 2004 Conspicuous clean, well maintained building in the southern Virginia Ave slummy part. You can look out the windows of this restaurant and find 2 porn stores visually. Lots of free parking. Inside is well decored and well-staffed. Definately catering to a higher class than the area would lead you to believe. Meals are large for the price and well prepared. Nothing gormet but much better than buffet scraps or $4.99 prime rib. The beers are boring but the sampler is large and daunting. The brewery is easy to see and also well maintained. This is part oasis, part mirage. You find a gem in the rough for a restaurant but the quality of the restaurant much overshadows the quality of the beer. |
