2016-09-17. Seating is pretty cramped, feels a bit European in that sense. Sat by the open windows on a pleasant rainy day which was nice but might be hot/cold other times. Curry wurst is nice. No bread as per menu? Steak and eggs is decent, steak is just okay. Significant beer list of European options. Tickers will likely find some obscure European beers, many of which are just okay. Server is friendly enough, we didnít exactly quiz him on the beer list. Decent if youíre in the neighbourhood or looking for ticks. Proximity to the AGO is nice.

When I visited: Winter 2014.
What I had: A bottle of Petrus Oud Bruin, since they were out of the other beers that I ordered (Rogue Brutal IPA, Ommegang Abbey Ale, Bacchus Oud Bruin, Vanderghinste, and others).
What I liked: The server was reasonably friendly and apologized for being out of so many beers.
What I disliked: Beyond the fact that the beer menu is a farce, with most of the rare/interesting options out of stock, this is one of the only bars Iíve come across where nobody actually sits at the bar. Instead, the vast majority of people sit at tables, some of which are crammed so close to the bar stools you wonder whether theyíre actively trying to discourage patrons from sitting at the bar. This confounding setup leads me to believe that the owners and management do not understand what makes a good/welcoming beer bar. And perhaps they donít care.
Would I go back? Absolutely not. Sin & Redemption is a complete sham, and the fact that it currently ranks among Torontoís top 20 beer bars is embarrassing. Avoid.

went twice last(mid) week @ about 20:00;very busy with just one or two tables available.
even though the beers are served a little too cold, the servers could be a little more knowledgeable and they could use 1 more server per shift,i like this place.
they have the choice of 4-5 different weissbiers and "stuff" for people who like beer but seldom drink craft!
So, I liked my exeperience at S & R. The service however, was a bit underwhelming. Our particular server didnít seem to know much about the beers available. New perhaps? Anyhow, the selection is fairly strong, will certainly give them another chance in the new year.
Open for a couple years, this place has really found its groove. While not necessarily at the forefront of the latest Canadian hoppy beers, its niche is a very nice European style bar with a terrific Belgian tap and bottle list. People of all ages were here, without blaring music, in three large rooms (there is also a private party room) and comfortable seating. So even though crowded by 11 pm, not competing with loud music allowed for good conversation. Small bar area and unfortunately hot, no one stayed there. I counted about two dozen taps, mostly Belgian offerings, with several German as well. Prices were higher than needed to be as not prime downtown real estate, but still reasonable. Bottles perhaps even more so, with Rochefort 8 and 10 always available. the appropriate glassware very appreciated. Staff were very nice but also aggressive in checking at least every 10 minutes for drinks.
Nice looking little place at the corner of Richmond and McCaul. Although the place wasnít all that busy, there were way too many tables and chairs to be able to move around comfortably - Iím not sure if itís busier in the evenings either after work or with the student crowd. Solid tap list and the beer is incredibly well-priced for Toronto. The staff were friendly although shockingly uneducated about craft beer. The management seems to have a weird thing about not wanting their staff to socialize at the bar - which came across as very odd to me. Everything is served in the proper glass - a nice touch that I quite appreciate. Some of the beer on tap seemed a little past prime, so Iím not sure how much turnaround they do on the more obscure stuff (the glass of Koenigshoeven Quad I ordered came out like a milkshake). Still, itís nice to see another beer spot here - even if they could do with a bit of tweaking.
