My wife found this store as we were on our way to the bar with the same name. small store with a teriffic selection of hard to find beer’s, very knowledgable & friendly staff, I picked up Fantom and Avery beers and there was a great selection of Lambic’s as well, although on the expensive side. I would definatly go back to this store to buy more of these gems.

Visiting from the West Coast, I had a chance to explore with George, the proprieter, some of the stuff he recommended from local brewers that we just don’t see back home. We chatted for some time, and he knew something about every brewer represented in his stock. Prices were NOT higher than other specialty shops in the NYC metro area by any means. And SDG has som real rare Belgians and vintage bottles you’re not going to find most other places. The store is only, like, two blocks from the Bedford Ave L subway line, and four blocks from the SD bar and associated Fette Sau bar-b-que on Metropolitan Ave. A three way Mecca of craft beer in Brooklyn.

Often carries some tough rarities and imports that you can’t find anywhere else in NY. However, they charge a pretty penny for them — this is by far the most expensive bottle shop in NYC.

Cool store. They had a good selection that matched a lot of stuff they had at the bar. The man who was in there was very knowledgeable and friendly. I’d definetely return, and I liked the set up a lot.

I hunted for this one amid all the coffee shops, bars, trinket shops, and new construction and it’s a few blocks from the parent company in a little mini-mall. There was one guy standing there who was quite friendly and he had volumes of knowledge to share. I saw many unique items there and with the guy’s advice, I picked up a cool 750ml of Ithaca White Gold and hungered for more than I could carry into the subway. The L train stop at Bedford Ave is 3 blocks away from this treasure.

Pretty well hidden and small, but with a very nice collection from americas, europe, japan.. As a scandinavian I was pleased to find some goods from my area too. Staff was very helpful with true beer geek kind of knowledge and they even provided cardboard packaging.

Very hard to find, even when walking down the street. You have to walk into the indoor mall which has a cafe at the front entrance. Inner decor is wood- extremely small place. Some rare ones can be found, but the selection is very limited. It’s also obnoxiously overpriced, and the guy working there is pompous (who knows little about craft beer, and feeds misinformation to local hipsters)

Hidden from public view, the new Spuyten Duyvel Grocery is another great beer store in New York. The selection isn’t massive, and their prices aren’t amazing, but they carry plenty of beers that my usual beer store, New Beer Distributors, doesn’t usually carry. The staff is affable and keen to help out in any way possible. The ambiance is great, too, with a nice cozy wooden feel that makes it seem like it’s been there for decades. This place is going to make my trips to Williamsburg much more costly!

Tucked away in a corner shop inside the Bedford mall is a place that looks exactly like you’d expect the owners of SD to open. Dark and slightly worn down looking (purposefully so), they have chosen to focus more on quality than quantity. My measure of a store is whether or not I see something I have never seen before. Lo and behold, I found that here. Even after seeing all the places to purchase beer here in the NYC area, I still found something that I had seen nowhere else. With New Beer and Bierkraft having such big selections, it might not be worth a long trip. But hey, it’s the first Brooklyn stop on the L, so why not give it a shot.
