dhbowen (7), , does not count - explanation | | May 19, 2012 Great location but beer quality and selection is just average. | | Onenote81 (72), Winston-Salem, North Carolina | | May 2, 2012 Originally reviewed: 5/5/09. The wife and I were up visiting Vancouver for a few days and thought I’d check this place out. Stopped in for lunch. Decent view of the historic street on one end of the place and an alright view of the harbour on the other end. The place is set up almost nicely with 2 bars, and they are soon adding a third. Service was great, as the waiters knew the beer they they carried. The food selection was stellar! This was the best offerings I’ve seen in a brewpub. I was very impressed. My wife got an open-faced turkey sandwich with a salad, that was very good; and I got a lamb burger with fries. This was excellent! The beer selection for this time was pretty average, with 5 or 6 of their normal offerings and 1 seasonal, a Belgian Wit. I got their Empress IPA which was pretty good. I should have gotten their sampler as I most likely will never be back to this area any time soon. Ah well. I really enjoyed this place and would recommend it to anybody. | MrFecesious (7), British Columbia does not count - explanation | | April 23, 2012 great location and large space. Staff friendly, and attentive enough considering the volume of customers. Food is consistent, tasty and decently priced for quantity/quality. Beer selection is "meh", and pricey for what you get. As a local, I don't go there unless visited by out-of-towners that are craft beer virgins and are curious about a bit tastier beers than macros. A commendable move by Steamworks to further boast craft beer, they opened Rogue Wetbar, which does carry a better domestic and more commercial craft selection. | | sseb69 (21), Gatineau, Quebec | | December 12, 2011 En voyage d’affaire à Vancouver. Bonne ambiance, belle place. La bière n’est pas impressionnante mais le service était bon. | | Matts_Property (27), Vancouver, British Columbia | | November 22, 2011 Not a bad pub. Service is standard, selection is average. | | fiulijn (273), Como, Italy | | August 29, 2011 Very commercial place, big, and often packed; beers are ok, nothing special. Food is uninteresting. Even if it’s a short walk from "home", I go there very seldom, it just looks like a place for tourists at the edge of Gastown. Malone’s is just a block away... | | TheRealMGD (54), Lakewood, Washington | | August 7, 2011 House beers cover the usual styles and the ones I sampled are pretty good. Steamworks is a large space - very deep and with a cozy downstairs. Service was quick and friendly during both of my visits, but I didn’t detect a lot of craft-brew knowledge. Lunch was standard pub fare. Great views from certain tables, pricey, a good stop for the ale tourist. | redneckrea (5), Washington does not count - explanation | | May 30, 2011 sat in the bar room which had very comfortable stools and booths. late night menu was all that was available for food, but what we got tasted amazing. 5oz sampler of 7 steamworks beers was reasonably priced but food was on par with the rest of downtown vancouver (read little high). not extremely impressed by quality of beer, and while i’m normally a dark beer fan my favorite ended up being their lager. both the coal porter and the IPA left a lot to be desired. | | mnurda (56), Winnipeg, Manitoba | | December 19, 2010 Nice place in downtown vancouver. Friendly staff. Beer was ok. SO was the food | | Nalu (19), Washington | | August 12, 2010 Nice selection of their own beers on tap, a large space - much larger than the initial impression gives. Service was quick and friendly during both of my visits, but not a lot of craft-brew knowledge. Lunch was standard pub fare. Great views from certain tables, pricey, a standard tourist stop. |
