Visited during Xmas Vacations 2006 with my wife. The food was ok, the place very touristic had some austrian beers but nothing exciting.

From back in mid-May 2011. Tourist joint without good selection but not lacking in price, just full of sound and fury, crowded bustle without and substance or space. A playground?!

Big and crowded place in the city center. Several rooms, big (only for food) and small biergarten with few boring Austrian macros and one, you can call it house beer, named Stern Bier Märzen Hell (brewed by Hofbräu Kaltenhausen). Typical food, too many people (7 p. m.), noisy and chaotic, etc. Didn’t like this place.

Overall, I give this place a great rating b/c we were in Salzburg in early January. It was snowing and there were not too many tourists about. After walking about looking for a spot to warm my toes this totally fit the bill. A very cosy spot and we sat right next to the porcelin furnace. This place has something for everyone and is obviously directed towards tourists but the food was really good (again we were really in need of comfort food). They only have a few beers on the menu and we had the Stern Bier which was decent but nothing to write home about. Overall, we enjoyed our stop in very much.

Oct 2008. Traditional old style German place, plenty of tables and benches when we visited. A nice warm atmosphere, can’t help thinking it would be the kind of place you would long for on a winters day. Beer selection not bad, I had their very own Stern Bier, not a bad taster. Never had the food although it did look impressive.

Nice traditional German-style place divided into several different places, with a formal restaurant, a kind of nightclub, a pub, and so on. We sat in the informal restaurant, and later the pub. They had a decent selection of Austrian beer, but nothing terribly exciting. The food was very good, though. Service was so-so.

I enjoyed this place a good bit, actually. A nice beer garden in the center. Service was good and the server spoke fairly good English and humored our attempts at German. :) Food was excellent...probably one of the top 5 places I ate while in Europe. Prices were not outrageous at all. They were along the same lines if not slightly cheaper than other places in the berg.

Kind of a beer complex in the middle of Salzburg´s centre. Not a place I enjoyed, tourists walk less than a meter from you just trying to cross from a road to another. Quite pricier than other places. Really a tourist joint.
