The Third in the Triplet of my Favourite Edinburgh Pubs, all owned by the same people... and thus run in the same way ... Always a good selection of Cask ... always served well ... and good service.

Tucked away in Stockbridge, this is worth a visit from town for any visitors. Friendly efficient staff with a mixture of cask and keg. Has the feel of a proper boozer.

Attended same night as Ashton McCobb, so see his rating for details. Nice bar tenders and a good atmosphere. Could have had a better selection on tap. Did not try any food.

Re-rate. I revisited and with a much improved range of beers this should definitely be considered as one of the best alehouses in Edinburgh. Previous rating on 22/01/13 = 66 This is a lovely old pub with nice traditional decor and friendly helpful staff. There seemed to be around 6 cask and 4 kegs on. I’m told that they keep their ale very well, though on this evening the majority of the beer wasn’t enjoyable. I will need to revisit and re-evaluate. I think they need to reduce the number of slightly ’iffy’ breweries that they seem to use and to be far more selective about who they put on tap.

Pleasant part of town with a small local market, shops and cafes nearby. The pub is great with a selection not just focused on Scottish produce but UK wide. Ever changing cask range. Food menu looked really good. Friendly staff.

We combined this with a trip around the Botanic Gardens, which are well worth a visit. Good friendly older style ale house with a pretty decent range. Knowledgeable staff and a good, chatty clientele. Great place to go.

Excellent bar with a good selection of real ales. The food looks good .

Good traditional pub with a reasonable selection of cask beers on tap. Don’t go to the Tap often, but when I do, it is always a good experience.

Frequent rotation of draft beers. Very friendly staff. Relaxed ambience and real fire in the back. Also, good list of whiskies with some exciting ones.

One of the best in a good area for pubs (Cumberland, Antiquary, Baillie, maybe the St Vincent). At least six taps from around the UK and plenty of custom to keep the turnover strong. Busy and popular.
