| maeib (12), Wootton, Northampton, England | | February 12, 2012 Best bottled range in town and around 8 real ales. Quality always good, and at a pretty good price. Does attract an odd lunchtime crowd. Occasional and good festivals, including cheese and cider. Well worth a visit if you can get across the busy road. | | dynamiteninja (46), York, England | | January 24, 2011 I never really "got" this place. Not helped by the rudeness of the landlord and his staff. | | Richy (10), Dublin, Ireland | | January 13, 2010 Great pub. Very cosy, with a brilliant selection of beers, some old fashioned pub games, and a nice relaxed vibe. | | Rastacouere (581), Montréal, Quebec | | August 19, 2007 A very warm pub that dominates its street corner and pulls you in. Excellent selection of real ales as well as a rather deep continental bottle selection. There are a fair few of those I would not have mind drinking. Friendly service, offering a sample before trying. Comfortable place to spend a few hours. One of Leicester’s top 3 in my opinion. | | haddonsman (56), Derby, England | | July 10, 2005 One of the last pubs visited on the English Midlands ratebeer crawl of Leicester organised by Dan. And it’s a great pub; quite cosy, big tables, great bottles (like its sister the Criterion), interesting foreign draught beers as well. | leaparsons (6), Leicester, England does not count - explanation | | May 12, 2004 Quite an old fashioned boozer but with a massive range of both foreign and british beers. Good Sunday lunches, too. I used to go to The Swan more before the Criterion opened. But this is still a brilliant pub. | | DanielBrown (191), Birmingham (via Leicester), England | | February 5, 2004 Probably my favourite pub in the World, and a great reason to visit the underrated City of Leicester. This place has an ever changing and wide range of bottles, especially Belgian and German, although it's sister pub The Criterion, now goes for the latter in a more determined fashion. Some good US beers too. Great atmos, comfy seats, and a very friendly landlord. This is place to really relax and enjoy some of the best beers in the World. For UK real ale fans they also keep a few taps for rotating microbeers, which are greatly appreciated by the local clientele. |
