Lots of beer here, especially Western MA (but not Tree House or anything). Helpful staff with check the back room for you, etc, but only one guy knows about beer. Everything is a dollar more than most places and they buy in huge lots so check dates on your staples (SN, etc). They have specialty foods, but I’ve never bought any. They also have a nice mixed six discount but you HAVE TO CHECK IT EVERY TIME. Their computers are shit and they always fuck this up. Make sure they ring up your mixed sixes first and then check that you got the discount, so you don’t end up at customer service re-buying everything like I have several times.

Table and Vine is well located on a road trip from NYC up to Vermont. It is a large drinks warehouse-type place, but more upmarket than Total Wines etc. They have a ludicrously large selection of beer split down several aisles and fridge areas. It was difficult to take in the sheer scale of the beer range. As you might expect they have got all beer regions covered and have plenty of interesting beer. Prices seemed pretty reasonable to me. They also offer a nice selection of premium foodstuffs and other intoxicating beverages. I would say a must-visit in this part of the world.

Stopped by here a few weeks ago when I was in the area. Big place with lots of room. Big beer aisle. Service was non-existent. No problem, I can figure things out on my own. Wide selection, mixed, but nothing that stood out.

Mega-Mega-Mega liquor warehouse, half the store is wine, extraordinary selection of just about everything including a small display of deli and artisanal foods. Despite having tons of imported and craft beers, something is missing, I don’t like going there. Prices are no better than in my go-to place, the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow, discounts are limited to wines and are only 10% for a case, few of the staff are knowledgable about the beers. Negotiating a discount on 3 or 4 cases of an import is like pulling teeth, whereas the smaller stores are easy to deal with. Perhaps with so many staff and offerings, I should not expect such. But I was disappointed to not see some fine MA craft beers, especially Idle Hands and Enlightenment, which are at Kappy’s; or the Belgian seasonals which one can find at Beer Shop. So go there to get what you know you want or to browse with a ratings guide, keep your iPad at ratebeer, don’t expect much help with the craft beers. Their wine clerks, however, are very helpful and have yet to mislead me. When I need a specific taste in wine they are on the ball.

Went here to do an IP trade with Gn0sis. Browsed around and wow, this place is amazing. Great selection of beer, wine, cheese, champagne, charcuterie and a ton of mustard to choose from great oil & vinegar selections too. This place rocks! Service was awesome.

I can’t see what all the love is for this place is coming from. It’s essentially an upmarket total wine so we’re talking supermarket layout with the focus on wine, which takes up half the store, and beer relegated to the back coolers and the left 2 1/2 aisles. They do have a number of locals but very little unique or unusual. Service is nonexistent in the beer section although you can’t walk more than 3 feet in wine without someone waiting in you. Yes you can buy beers individually but the experience is so corporate and so cynical that it’s breathtaking. Not even total wine inundates you with radio ads for BMC every 30 seconds like these folks do. One minute they’re telling you they have 700 different kinds of beer and the next there pontificating on the virtues of the beer of the month which is currently Corona. I just found the whole experience off putting.

Stopped in to buy some beers on my way to Boston. A large warehouse type store where they had put a decent amount of effort into the decoration. The staff seemed knowledgeable though I did not ask any specific questions. Selection went above what I was expecting with countless bottles available. Prices seemed quite competitive as well. A great Massachusetts store.

Huge, very fine store, with only a a couple aisles of craft beer--but given the size of the store, that’s definitely enough. Also huge selections of wine, gourmet foods, and liquors. First went on a Saturday, when the store was packed with people for some sort of mass sampling event with free food and whatnot, and oddly a DJ. Dropped about $50 that day and came back the next day when it was much less crowded to spend the same amount! Tried a couple samples of the "staff picks" from a staff member traveling around the store; both were good and I ended up picking up one of them. You can also break up any 4- or 6-pack in the store (including cans if you’re wondering). Don’t miss the variety of local and other Massachusetts growlers in a fridge along the back wall; all at surprisingly good prices. When I looked at the list of what was available in Massachusetts, I didn’t think I’d end up picking much up, as the listings I saw were mostly all available in various states around the Midwest, but the selection was deep enough that I ended up going way over my intended budget. Less beer-buying I have to do at home for the next few weeks, though.
