Food was excellent and the beer was deeply satisfying. Love the place itself, quiet and shaded, breezy, sound of running water from the fountains, lots of tall trees and flowers about, very peaceful. Absolutely worth the trek from central Jena, and I’d argue worth a sunny afternoon’s visit from Leipzig or Weimar.

In a residential area (thought the GPS was messed up and passed by the place initially). Restaurant is in the back. Nice little place with good food. Have a couple other beers on tap, but if you make the effort to get here, you’re probably only interested in the Weissbier anyway (available to go as well).

From the street it looks like a ordinary house, walk around and there is a large outside area, partly covered, and the entrance to a cosy place with good food at very decent prices, and of course the main attraction: Wöllnitzer Weisbier, a sour wheatbeer. Like Berliner Weisse and Gose you can also get it with syrup or some Schnapps. Bit out of town, there are regular buses, but it is still some 10 minutes walk from the busstop.
