| Scopey (150), Croydon, England | | March 12, 2012 This place is a 5/10 minute walk from Pizza Port, so if you are in the area why not? An impressive selection of 500+ bottles awaits! Beer pretty much takes up half of this fairly sizeable liquor store. Most beers are bombers. Comprehensive selection of California and US, with a few gems like Alpine. European selection is also solid with harder to get stuff like LoverBeer sours. Prices were definitely on the high side in comparison to other places I visited in California. Even though the selection was massive I didn’t see too many beers that I couldn’t have got elsewhere. Still well worth a visit if you are in the area. | | Sammy (408), Toronto, Ontario | | January 17, 2012 underated bottle store. Great selection of the locals, their complete line, and harder to get Califormia beers. Priced at the going rate, with hours much more convenient than the Pizza Port bottle shop. | ryansalem (1), san diego, California does not count - explanation | | December 8, 2011 The buy 10 and get the 11th and 12th for 10 cents is a great deal. Right next to pizza port carlsbad this is a must stop. The best beer selection in San Diego hands down. | | footbalm (61), Western Minneapolis Suburbs, Minnesota | | October 23, 2011 Over-priced but they have a very good selection of SD and other CA brews. they have a weird buy 6 abd get a 7th for a nickel but at their prices...it ends up being close to the PP Bottle Shop. | spyvsspy7 (3), Colorado does not count - explanation | | July 28, 2011 I was impressed with the variety of beers/ liquor for such a small space. The buyer does a good job of getting great product in the store. That being said the prices are a little steep but what do you expect for a store on village drive. I will keep coming back. | trashcan1223 (9), elcajoin, California does not count - explanation | | July 6, 2011 i went over there at forth of july and he charges a lots of money for 1 beer bottle he charges for pliny bottle$2.00 more and more places.and all his beer bottles are dusty and some get really hot and they blow and he has so many pravite parking lots you cant even park there and he charhes for private parking. | | theisti (273), Leawood, Kansas | | June 13, 2011 Visited later in the evening. Service was prompt and very friendly. The beer is laid out in one long aisle, racks on one side, coolers on the other. The selection was pretty great, and the prices were very fair. I found 12 or so bottles pretty much right away, and would have bought a ton more if it wasn’t for our friends at the TSA. If you are just going to bottle shop, I would recommend this place over the Pizza Port bottle shop due to selection and price. If you want to hang out a bit, PP is a better option, of course. I believe I receive a free bottle based on a case purchase. | | BMan1113VR (279), Los Angeles, California | | November 15, 2010 Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Just down the street from Pizza Port Carlsbad. Easy parking lot out front. Surprisingly large selection of beers. Good ones too. Saw a bunch of Bourbon Barrel Top Sail, which I haven’t seen around too often. Employees seemed nice, but not extremely knowledgeable. Pricing seemed decent as well. Worth a stop if you are in the area. | | peteinSD (34), San Diego, California | | May 4, 2010 Beer selection is really thorough. Maybe if you’ve had A LOT of different beers it might not be good enough but for me it was fine. Some of the prices were on the high end but they also have sales on really good stuff they are just trying to clear out. Good place to visit in terms of convenience for coastal north county SD. | i630 (5), California does not count - explanation | | May 3, 2010 Texas Liquor has the 2nd best selection in North County Coastal area. It is open during the day, which the PP bottle shop is not. The selection is good, and the prices are very reasonable. This is especially true if you buy a decent amount of beer. As we all know, craft beers aren’t ever the cheapest. Texas usually has deals posted that give you discounts on your 7th 22oz bomber or your 11th & 12th 22oz bomber. If you’re resourceful, you can put together a nice craft brew package. The service is available, but not overly insightful. There is always plenty of parking since it is adjacent to the Albertsons. I always recommend stopping in on your way to PP, especially if you’re buying more than just a few bottles. |
