Great beer bar. Love the view of passing trains behind the bar. Nice music, great list of changing beer with lots of BC stuff as well as the U.S. west coast including some smaller American breweries. Samples flights of 4 go for $11, so a little more expensive than St. Augustine’s. Friendly, knowledgeable bartenders. Food smelled good but didn’t indulge.

Vancouver�s most beery bar we visited in Mar.2012, amazing choice and quality was good. Styles to suit all tastes, and I got my hop buzz with several of the beers! A must visit in Vancouver. Unfortunately the night of our visit both hand pumps were out of use. But at least they make the effort.

This is far and away my favorite beer bar in Vancouver. This place is just filled with a cool vibe. The beer is great and the food almost as good. Best of all whenever I visit here from out of town I can always count on being able to strike up conversations with locals...and even better often get invited to join them. It’s just that kind of place...as good as any craftbar you’ll find in Northern CA, OR, or WA. This is a must visit for any craftbeer fan when in town.

Awesome place, good service that was knowledgable about drafts, very patient in preparing a good sampler of BC beer. Draft list was awesome, heavy on locals, bottle list a bit lacking, 2/3 of it was barley wines. Food was outstanding, we had the steak/gratin/bok choy special, all were superbly cooked for a great blend of texture and taste.

A lovely pub pretty much at the intersection of Gastown and Chinatown, certainly one of the best establishments for quality beer in Canada. The large interior comprises a basement that seems comfortable and atmospheric, but will only get filled whe upstairs is filled. Upstairs, there are plenty of wooden tables where you can taste attractive recipes that would make the place interesting even if they did not have a great tap lineup. Excellent selection of draught beers focusing on bold stouts and hoppy pale ales from the Pacific Northwest. A fair number of BC beers, but quite a few American ones as well. Some relative rarities like Storm’s Imperial Flanders Red were on during our visit. Tap seems to change frequently and they do let you know what’s coming up. Opening rather late at 5 pm and then the crowd seems to be mostly young to mid-age professionals who finished their work days. Despite the high ceilings and large size of the rooms, it never got too loud and the nice setup (large windows, old accessories all over the place like typing machines, efficient lighting, great brown wood floors) makes the place feel pretty warm, not cozy, but a place where you’d be comfortable for hours. It seems to get very busy though and while it was not my personal experience, I can imagine that it gets annoying. Service was very good on our visit though and more than up to date and the beer list. The type of bar I wish my city had more of.

Only when it’s busy does the service (understandably) decline. They are incredibly knowledgeable, have an amazing selection of well-maintained taps, and are situated in an amazing building. Doesn’t get much better in Vancouver.

Prices might be a bit high, but, for the quality and location, it’s reasonable. Food was outstanding and high quality and quantity beer options. Bartenders and servers are super friendly.

Always busy as very popular, which can delay seating and service. Great tap selection. Good beer food.
