Conveniently we stayed about a three minute walk from here. That decision was only about half intentional. It was also the first stop (other than our AirBNB apartment) upon arrival in Vancouver.
On the edge of Gastown, sort of a minimalist building from the outside and almost easy to miss. Small "patio" outdoors with a handful of seats. More table and bar seating inside and a downstairs, though not sure that’s always open... A very modern, almost industrial feel to this place.
The food is modern, perhaps "gastropub" style is a good way to describe it. Limited but solid menu. The beer list is extensive and offers a lot of options for different tastes. Pours of all sizes are available, including tasters (though they’re 6 oz!) of all beers offered.
Great service on our visits throughout the weak. Good rotation on the taps and a nice selection of a variety of BC beers (a few from OR/WA mixed in as well). A few casks on during all the visits, too. Pricing is not bad, even for Vancouver.
Just a class place. Would happily come here all the time. Easily the best beer place in the city.

Checked out this top rated place on a one night layover in Vancouver to see if it lives up to the hype and it does. This place is HUGE compared to anywhere in Japan. Lots of dark wood, informed staff but kind of stretched thin so not as kind/friendly as other places in town. Seating for a good 2-300 people, tons of great beerand tasting bats makes this a great addition to a visit to Vancouver. All around probably the most extensive tap list in town but it is a bit overwhelming. But the best selection in BC with reasonable prices for a tasting set.

Cool place located right on the tracks on the edge of Gastown, looking out at the Rockies.
Excellent selection with lots of local stars. Crew takes time to set you up with something nice.
Nice food served from 5PM. Not your regular pub fare, but fresh cooking. Also nice charcuterie and cheese plates.

The Alibi Room offers an excellent draft beer menu, both with local BC craft breweries and beer from the Pacific NW of the US. The interior is kind of puritan, in the modern "industrial" style of naked bricks and steel pipes and beams. The place was fairly packed when I arrived an hour after the 5 pm opening but I still got good service. Had an infected beer, that I didn’t have to pay for, and several really good Canadian beers. Food was also decent. Visited: 2014-07-16.

Excellent spot, in a part of town that ain’t perfect.. which is good to knock the pleasantville vibe. Bricks, beer and dark. Good list, decent food, fair price, great tap list of BC beers.

Finally made it here. Really great atmosphere, food was ok, service was pretty good. The menu is a little strange because it tells you what beer they will have next on a few kegs, which doesnt really help you right now. A few casks. Great spot.

Such a great bar to get your drink on in Vancouver. I came here all but one day during my Vancouver stay. A great introduction to BC brews with a solid array of styles on tap. I sat at the bar each time and with great conversation with staff, locals and travellers alike, it’s a good place to be. The food is pretty damn good for what it is, though I just stuck with the bar menu - good burger. Staff were great and even when busy made sure I grabbed a spot at the bar. It’d be rude not to pay a visit to AR.

Love this place, absolutely great beer selection and also had some ciders mixed in there too. This place is a no brainer if in the Vancouver area.
