64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 ogivlado (270) Zagreb, Croatia | December 4, 2012| Updated December 7, 2012 Located few minutes from main train station, with large patio and free bicycle repair on the day we went there. Though stated it has selection of 150 beers, it’s more like half of this number (but we were there one week after opening, so they might have more now). You can find usual selection of Croatian macros with reasonable prices, some Belgians (no available at the time) and some good English beers as well. They serve food - we took tapas and it was quite nice. Waiters are slow and totally unorganized, but I hope that they will become better with time. Good thing is that this place works ’till 4 a.m. and it has a DJ or live music. In the last few years there were few trendy places to be in Zagreb on this location but none of them survived more than a year, year and a half...good luck to Beertija, so we’ll see... |
70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 Marko (188) Split, Croatia | October 20, 2012| Updated November 11, 2012 A surprising discovery after a friend’s friend took us here for a drink after a pub quiz elsewhere. Located in a big, slightly chaotic basement area with a patio outside - this place used to host a restaurant/barbecue place with an Italian chef, and before that a sports pub run by a famous Croatian handball goalie, both of which seem to have failed for some reason. Never been to either, so couldn’t tell. It’s one of those tree-shadowed outer city centre streets that one generally won’t go out partying/drinking to, so it doesn’t attract much "random visitors", I guess. Anyway, it’s a beer place that tries to be a bit of a club too, still carries food (barbecue too?) and offers free bike service. Because why not :). The interior’s decorated, and while I can’t exactly nail the style, maybe 20th century retro, it’s not your typical beer place. Now, the relevant bits. The beer selection is huge. They say they have 160 kinds of beer, I kiiinda doubt that (though it’s possible), but the list is bigger than in any other pub in Zagreb right now. Far bigger. And it contains stuff that I haven’t had, yet. So, finally a beer pub that actually has a decent, even good (read: great for Croatia) selection of beer. The issue there is that a lot of them are bloody expensive, with prices reaching 5 Euros for a bottle, and even the basic beers are slightly overpriced, even for the center I reckon (and this is hardly Tkalčićeva or Bogovićeva). The service... can’t judge their knowledge of beer, but they seem to be immediately aware of what they have in stock or not, which is a plus. Having to repeat our orders nearly every time twice on a night that wasn’t really teeming with people isn’t a plus though, hope that improves. The waiting periods were enormous too. Maybe too few of them on a big area? Don’t know. Anyway, I’ll probably go here again sooner or later. Great to see something like this open, but it’s not without its flaws, and we’ll see how far it goes... I’ll rerate it later on. Oh, and the music was quite good. Rerate: great, helpful, interested service this time. It depends on the people I guess, varying from great to terrible. |
