| jredmond (111), Manhattan, New York | | December 29, 2011 Not a bad place. Solid selection of beer but a bit pricy. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. | | WLG423 (13), Connecticut | | August 7, 2010 Nice selection of beers but very expensive. General decor is nice but music did not match. Bartenders were knowledgeable. | | ben4321 (117), Hoboken, New Jersey | | June 1, 2010 This is a pretty solid bar. A nice spot with solid offerings, decent-to-good service, and a decent scene. Good Belgian style offerings. Not a spectacular place, but a nice place to grab a drink for sure. I hadn’t rated this place previously, as I thought it was part of Hop Devil... | beerbro1 (1), does not count - explanation | | December 30, 2009 Hi,
This is me and my brother’s place. We have brought it back from the abyss. We hope you like it. We will be increasing the selection over time but I think you will agree that the ambiance is greatly improved. I noticed that some out there have knocked it. I know that this is a lot to ask but please try it again. The Belgian Room was rattled by the local police. They sent in underaged people to to trick the bartenders. No matter how much we trained and even threatened the staff, someone would sell a cop a beer. This caused a lot of pain and we are lucky to still be there. We were shut down numerous times. It hurt sales and our regulars found other places to drink. We hope we are past this. Thanks for your understanding and support of the Belgian Room. | | HoppityHop (54), New Jersey | | August 31, 2008 The reason why this place is never crowded (even though it’s smack-dab-in-the-middle of the LES) is because it’s so ridiculously overpriced, you’d be a fool to drink here. 12oz bottles of Saison Dupont cost $11, Three Philosophers cost $9, and believe it or not, a Bud Light is $7 bucks! I walked without trying a single thing. Then again, their selection was so middle of the road, it wasn’t a great loss. | | notalush (256), Denver, Colorado | | August 16, 2008 Since when did they separate this listing from Hop Devil? - I have mixed feelings about this place - the ambiance is most certainly better then Hop Devil, and it’s usually more comfortable and less crowded - however, it really isn’t a different bar from HD - it just happens to be another room that also has s few other taps - they have a decent selection of lambic bottles, but nothing compared to Spuyten Duyvil - I guess if you’re visiting Hop Devil there is no reason not to go, but if it were stand-alone I probably wouldn’t go here - much like Joe, I don’t understand why there are separate entries, but hey, it’s another place rating! | | dchmela (96), Orlando, Florida | | July 8, 2008 Popped in here after visiting Hop Devil. Some nice stuff on tap, mostly belgian styles of American beer, but good stuff. I had a Southhampton Witte that was delicious. Didn’t have any food because we ate at the Hop Devil, but it looked good. Bartender was also knowledgeable. Good place. | | puzzl (100), New York, New York | | March 20, 2008 A decent place. I kind of lump this in with hop devil, they are essentially the same place. They only have 5 or 6 taps here, with a few that never change. They used to have a great selection of bottled sours but they basically have nothing left anymore, and the prices for those are through the roof. Two years ago I got a Lou Pepe Kriek here for $23... thats long gone, and now they have the Brouscella for $33. What? | | rlgk (131), Skövde, Sweden | | March 10, 2008 Really nice place, just next to Hop Devil. Great selection and nice staff with knowledge. I enjoyed my time here alot. | | yobdoog (94), Woodridge NY, New York | | February 19, 2008 I love the Belgian Room. Always so many good beers on tap and the lighting is perfect. They have a ton of bottles too. Things you most likely won’t find elsewhere as fat as belgians go. The food is great. You can get the same food as Hop Devil, next door but it is nice to eat delicious Frites in the proper lighting with the proper beverage. It is comfortable to eat and hang out and is not as loud as its brother. Nice and fun. |
