76 Looks like this is some Mexican or spanish themed bar. Flag of Mexico on the wall, but couldn't find any Mexican beers.
They do flights. Selection pretty much the same like in Against the Grain, but with variations. Very friendly service and staff quite knowledgeable about beer.
They had some gaming Sunday here or something like that. At least 6-7 tables were playing some sort of board games.
Worth a visit when around this area. |
84 My favorite of the Galway Bar which we visited. Spacious, relaxing, bit worn wood, windows all around and some seats outside. Cask beer even, only one when visited, more is possible, cask beer was great. They also do comedy nights here. Galway Bay & Brú expected beers on tap as well as Weihnstephaner and Prossecco on tap also a Mikkeller beer, Verdant, Duvel 6.66 % so eclectic with some duds but some good ones as well. Same menu as the other locations, we tried the cauliflower winds which were not bad. Felt just like a relaxing place to sit. |
78 Fist pub on our Irish tour. Not the freshest interior, mostly restaurant tables, not much of a pub atmosphere. Selection was quite good, plenty of Irish craft beers both tap and cask. Some of them I haven't seen at other places. Some interesting bottles like Galway Bay Diving Bell. Wouldn't say there were 100 bottles available. Food was good. Worth checking out, not many better places in Dublin. |
74 Small place, two plainly decorated rooms of restaurant tables with a small serving bar with tons of taps, in the Asian part of town. Note to self, some back to this area for some Korean food. Server was quite enthusiastic about the beer list, which included ten or so Galway Bay beers and a dozen or so guests from around Ireland and England. Flights of four are possible. Food reminded me of UK pub food from the old days, and that's not good - a bit bland and small portions, but it was fresh enough. Beers are solid. Worth a look. |
76 Good spot with a fine selection af craft beers, many from Galway Bay but also some imports and three casks. It was busy and a little noisy Sunday evening, but more quiet Monday. Good food menu with several vegetarian options and the curry was pretty good. The service was friendly and attentive. Definately worth a visit. |
74 Spacious and comfortably furnished pub in the city centre. 27 kegged beers on offer, less than half of which are from the rather dependable but ubiqiutous Galway Bay Brewery, the rest is mainly Irish craft fare. Also 3 beers on handpump, all not really in perfect condition, and two fridges full of beer, so lots to chose from - your wallet permitting. Sample trays are available and the bar staff is friendly. |
74 We’ve initially visited the place around 10 o’clock. The place just started to get crowded. This made the ambience a little nicer. The waiter was really nice, and gave some good advice on what beer to take. It is always good when the waiter/bartender gives an opinion and advice on your beer. We revisited the place late in the afternoon (around 5). We also had some finger food than, which was truly delicious. I love it that the Galway Bay Brewery has its own hot sauce, with Off Foam And Furry beer in it. The downside of the place was the smell of a rough party the previous night. It smelled like methanol and cleaning agents. This smell was gone when we revisited the place, but it wasn’t nice at first. The beer misses some cosiness during the daytime, but at noon the place gets more crowded. Quite a nice place. |
74 Visited on Sunday 28/06/15 around 5pm. The place was fairly busy but not rammed so I pulled up a seat at the bar. Distressed Victoriana decor with floor boards and a mish mash of chair. Barman was friendly and knew his beers, in fact he’d been expecting me as the guy at the Dry dock had called ahead to check if there were any new rates on here for me !! Galway beers on tap plus a few guests, pretty solid beers across the range from Galway Bay. Tasting flights by the three also on offer to the ticker.I had the fish and chips for eats which were solid, if a little heavy on the wallet, there again it is the centre of Dublin. Overall a solid stop and well recommended. |
90 This pub was more busy than the empty Beerhouse nearby. Friendly service and my first acquaintance with Galway Bay beers. Two beer bats went down a treat. Great beers! (A beer bat: 3x20 cl for 5,50 Euro) I also had a conversation about beer with on of the customers sitting at the bar. (Visited February 15th 2016) |
