This place was renowned for their crazy gastropub fare, but not so much the beer selection. However, even though the choices were fairly limited, they had enough styles represented so that you could find something to pair with your dish easily enough. The ingredients sounding more interesting than the dishes actually turned out to be. pretty expensive for what it was. Guess thats why they had to close it down and revamp the menu/prices/concept after only a few years. Now they are a moderately priced burger and pizza joint. I havenít been back yet to try the new concept.

Limited, but nicely thought out beer selection, featuring taps of local brews (not just the standard ones, but some of the more interesting one offs), good micros, and a couple of Belgian imports. Canít believe Iím calling this "limited," just shows how far the craft beer market has come along. But the real reason to go here is the food. Small plates, good for splitting and sampling lots of things. Focus on local sourcing for ingredients. You canít go "cheap" here, but you can watch what you order and stay middle of the road for value. But you can also go nuts, try a lot of things, and really have a blow out meal. Chefís table offered by reservation. A couple of the dishes we tried we felt like needed a bit more work to get "perfect," but appreciated the fact that they werenít afraid to experiment. Good use of interesting meats - rabbit, goat, etc. My favorite thing was the braised pork cheeks. With their focus on fresh local ingredients, I wish they could have had stronger seafood offerings, but that is just getting picky. Good stop for foodies, and the beer ainít bad either.

I was excited to try out Richmondís new "Gastropub" and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. (Though, as is often the case with much-hyped venues, delivery was slightly short of expectation.) Definitely trendy- upscale but not fussy, airy feel, semi-private room overlooking kitchen, a little loud (but it was packed). Kind of a see-and-be-seen kind of place for the upper-middle set of Richmond. Service was friendly and efficient, and the server seemed knowledgeable. Beer selection small but well-rounded. I think something for everyone except the Bud Light set- which isnít you anyway. I have had a lot of what was on the menu but not all- and a lot of it I donít see regularly around the Richmond restaurants. Food was good- also trendy- small plates, local sourcing, "nose to tail" concept (which means using the whole animal), and European "style." Refreshing that it is meat-centric and not veggie-centric. The pork dust fries and goat cheese croquettes were delicious. The white gazpacho was good (a little oniony- which I like- but would have been bland otherwise). The arugula salad was missing something, but I donít think the salad crowd is their prime target. Definitely not cheap. Worth a visit if youíre also a foodie.
