Very unique place. Upstairs is a nice, white tablecloth style restaurant, while downstairs is very dungeon-ish. Regardless, the food and beer were both pretty good. The service was pretty iffy, however.

19 nov 2013. Happening little brew pub. Busy on a Monday night. About 6 of their own beers (mostly Belgian style) and maybe 40-50 bottles from all over the states and world. Great prices. A bit hipster atmosphere.

A bit pretentious upstairs, and a bit hipster downstairs, but when good beer is flowing, it’s all good. The building is split into 3 areas: downstairs is more of your typical brewpub scene; upstairs has a dining area where you’ll likely need to get reservations to get a seat, and also a bar area with living room style seating for around 30 or so (you can also order food in this area). Six house beers on, all of them good. Really cool place, and the food we ordered was pretty good too. Worth stopping in, for sure.

Visited July 2011.
While I had only ever had a couple of their beers I just had to visit the place that does the Ozzy beer. Very cool place and very artsy, at least upstairs (I didn’t go downstairs). There were a few small tables in the front room and a bar. No seating was available at the tables but there were a couple of seats at the bar. The menu on the site lists ALL the beers they have which had me excited but the fact was that they only had half a dozen on tap and a couple available in the bottle. Oh well, I guess the idea of them having 30 different beers available was a little too good to be true. The beers were unfortunately just alright. It’s a shame too since this place seems so nice. Didn’t eat either as the place was filling up and it was going to be too long of a wait to get any food, not to mention I just filled up on a crab pretzel at DuClaw ([:37]). Prices were high but since the tab only had one flight on it the total price wasn’t too much. Definitely a bit high for the service received.

I loved this place because it looked sooooo cool! It was Victorian-ish with couches and was très chic
Not many beers to choose from, but they were ok.
I really like the atmosphere. More formal upstairs and downstairs seemed darker and different.
Will come back when in Baltimore again.

I ate in the bottom, a brick laden dimly lit basement with a cave like feel. The bar was small but it wasn’t crowded. The bartender was super attentive and the food was excellent. The selection was pretty boring though, a mostly low alcohol Belgian sessions. All drank pretty bland, even the 7% Belgian brown and Ozzy is like a mediocre Duvel.
The Brewer’s Art is worth stopping in, it’s a lovely place with great service, the food is great, but the beer is mediocre.

Cool brewery in downtown Baltimore near the Arts District. Service is on par with nice restaurants in the area. Upstairs ambiance is just okay and comes off as too formal for my tastes. What’s great is the downstairs area which is extremely dim light and carries the vibe of a vintage cellar. House beers are typically decent, but they’re definitely overshadowed by the great menu of food options. Extremely delicious stuff.

Only rating the bar downstairs. Reminds me of a european bar, dark, cozy.. great beers on tap, enjoyed myself a little too much here.

An interesting brew pub. Being Friday night was very busy so service was a bit adhoc. The Birdhouse and Proletary beers were both good. Quite a trendy joint but good to see young ladies enjoying their beer as much as us!

Went here for a beer and pub grub with the lady, though the full dinner menu looked excellent. Interesting vibe, high ceilings with adornment, columns and such. Didn’t love the lighting, though they could’ve made the space a lot warmer and more inviting (though I still enjoyed it). We each had a beer, both were solid, and the schnitzel sandwich and their sort of reuben with knackwurst added was great as well. Absolutely worth a stop if in Baltimore.
