| ads135 (49), Lawrence, | | October 21, 2011 Best bar in Baton Rouge. The selection is impressive and the location is ideal for a night out. | | LSUPT (10), Louisiana | | October 11, 2011 Typical restaurant/bar atmosphere, nothing to complain about here. Service is always very good either at the bar or in the restaurant area, even on gameday when they are slammed. Selection is pretty good with more quality brews here than The Bulldog with occasional gems like Saint Arnold Divine Reserve on tap. Food is average by LA standards but the hush puppies are to die for. Good prices and really an enjoyable experience so close to campus. | | khan (11), Illinois | | August 17, 2011 Really great restaurant. The food is superb and the ambiance is great. The staff is friendly and they have a really nice selection of beers to choose from. Be sure you know what your looking for though as most of the college aged staff cant help to much with beer selections. | | Strebs (76), St. Louis, Missouri | | July 24, 2011 The Cimes is a great place for food, especially the happy hour deal on oysters. The location at one of the entrance gates to LSU is a plus and adds to the general funkiness. A nice selection of Belgian beers augments the regional American beers on offer. Recommended. | TopherJackson (5), Houston, Texas does not count - explanation | | December 17, 2010 Amazing food, not bad prices either. Great selection and plenty of locals on tap. A must if you are in the Baton Rouge area. | | TheDutchman (11), Louisiana | | November 3, 2009 For great food and a fantastic beer selection this is the place to go. There are well over 100 beers to choose from and the food is out of this world. The only drawback is the lack of TV’s to watch big games while enjoying a beer and some good food. | | Poobah (15), New Orleans, Louisiana | | April 12, 2008 Great college bar with a graduate feel. Beer selection is more than sufficient. The food is very good with plenty of local offereings like delicious fried or blackened alligator, raw oysters and above average crawfish etouffee. One of the best bar-restaurant places in town. | | Lumpy (50), Carrollton, Texas | | October 27, 2007 A nce looking, good sized, LSU college bar. It really is your average college bar with 2 exceptions:
1. There is a great selection of both draft and bottled beer
2. The food is free-f****ng-nomenal!
I had a limited adition Abita beer (Saison Select), a more accesibale Abita beer (Andygator), BBQ New Orleans style shrimp (outstanding) and sausage and duck gumbo. I have had my share of gumbo all over southern louisiana, and I make a pretty mean gumbo myself. I can say, without hesitation, that the sausage and duck gumbo was the best bowl of gumbo I have ever had, peiod, no question about it. If you are looking for a good beer selection, go to Chimes. If you are looking for fantastic food, go to Chimes. If you are looking for both....go to Chimes. Outstanding. | | PorterPounder (219), Tallahassee, Florida | | May 18, 2005 [ Updated April 18, 2006 ] College bar located just off the campus of LSU. Has about 30 taps - some Belgians, Brits and Germans among the mix. About 60 different bottles, decent import selection; fair micro selection. When I was here, had a Abita AndyGator, SNPA on tap and a Boddingon Ale. The Crawfish PoBoy was decent as were the crab cakes I had for an appetizer. Can get smoky! |
