Best value for huge beer selection. Food is pizza and salad and is well made and flavorful. Not real big but cozy for sure. Great staff. Very into what they do. I’ll be back.

A laid back pizza joint with a ton of beers. It’s kinda small, but is also pretty well designed and cozy. The food was said to be really good, and the pizza looked great. And the beer selection was really quite good, plus a bunch on tap. They once had the Abyss on tap! A real find. Can’t wait to return.

Rather small, but comfortable area with an impressive list of bottled and draft ales. They often get the only keg of something that comes through Boise. Service was great, pizza was good, and non-smoking kicks ass.

Small casual pizza and sandwich place, although I didn’t have any food. The tap list seemed more geared to import brews (Gouden Carolus Grand Cru on tap though, gotta love that) than Bitter Creek Ale House, which had more local/NW brews. There’s outside seating as well, perfect for people-watching. A nice spot, chill and low-key.

My husband and I both had the same first response upon peeking in the door at this dark, cozy, wood-panelled den: "Wow! They have ________ on tap!!" Despite our short stay in the Boise area, we decided that this spot couldn’t be missed. Lunch consisted of a creamy, nitro-charged Old Rasputin, two personal-sized pizzas, and a side salad. from the menu standards. Sipping this favorite imperial stout from a broad Chimay glass was an amazing experience. The side salad was generous, with a teriffic house-made bleu cheese dressing. The pizzas came out crisp & fresh, with well-proportioned and flavorful toppings. All of the staff--and our server in particular--was very friendly and accomodating. I only wish I could relocate The Front Door nearer to where I live, since I don’t know when I’ll next be in Boise . . .

This place has a very nice selection of bottled and draft PNW, CA, German and Belgian brews, and a cask to boot. Current (2/2007) draft offerings include Hairy Eyeball, cask Brown Sugga, Old Rasputain, Hop Henge, Rogue Charlie 1981, etc. Bottles include most of the widely available Belgians in the region. The pizza is very good. Good food, no domestic offerings, and the excellent location make this worthy of a stop. In short, near the top spot for beer in downtown Boise.

Hands down, the beer selection at the Front Door is the best that Boise has to offer. The guys there have put together one hell of a list that rivals places in Chicago, Seattle, and other big cities. Bittercreek does not even compare. All fourteen tap handles rotate and they even special order stuff that no one else has. If you love beer the Front Door is the place to be. Remember the Abbey! Second the pizza a the Front Door is some of the best that Boise has to offer, if you like something like Guido’s greasy little slices which are reheated or the PIe Hole which is much like the same, then the Front Door is not for you. If you enjoy great well crafted pizza come in. The service staff, well even at The Milky Way it can be hit and miss at least it’s better then Bittercreek or any beer place in a bigger city. Get to the Front Door and eat good pizza and drink great beer!

You can find this place by going to The Reef and before going upstairs, turn left. Inside is a little non-smoking lounge that serves beer, wine and booze. Also some basic starters, sandwiches and pizza are available. This place is owned by the same people as Bittercreek, that’s why the inside looks similar. The service comes and goes with the servers. Some are great, some shouldn’t be in the service industry. The beers on tap are nice, lots of regional stuff and strong special occasionals. More of the beergeek goodies than bittercreek offers, but less taps as well. The pizza is ho-hum, sandwiches decent. I like this place, just because it’s non-smoking and they have some decent beers. Could even rival Bittercreek if they really started hording the good stuff.

I really liked this place. I didn’t have any of their pizza, but that is what thet serve. Hence, the subtitle: Northwest Pizza & Tap House. Great beers on tap - a couple Belgians, and the rest are regional microbrews from Lagunitas to Full Sail to Laughing Dog. In fact, the brewer of Laughing Dog is going to be there tomorrow night to give tastings of his triple hopped IPA. Nice place to go have a good beer.
