88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 theisti (357) Leawood, Kansas | April 17, 2013 Located in a ratty strip mall in the crap part of Boca Raton. Visited soon after opening time (5pm) on a Monday. Despite the rough exterior, the interior is really nice, well designed with a large stage to the right, tables spread throughout the room, a couch and a couple of comfy chairs. The large bar is located at the end of the space, and the brewery and home brew shop are located next door. Overall, nice clean design. On draft they have 10-12 well chosen guest drafts, and 7 of their own brews on. A couple of the locals I drank with mentioned they generally have quite a few more of their own beers on, which is impressive. Solid music, though perhaps a touch loud at 5:15 for this old dude. The food was small pizzas and snacks. Hookah seemed like a real focus here, which detracted slightly when someone nearby was smoking. Service was great, beer quality was high. I really enjoyed my visit. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 Fritz123 (7) Boca Raton, Florida | March 9, 2013 The Funky Buddha has been my local watering hole for three years now. They make tremendous beers and sell a number of guest taps and bottles. They have very little turnover of bartenders so it is nice to walk in and see familiar, friendly faces. The crowd tends to also be younger and craft beer lovers. Ambiance is...well....Funky! It is dark with lots of artwork, tapestries, etc. They do live music/performance so there is a stage in the middle. Food...not so much. It is mostly frozen stuff and light snacks. I love the Buddha. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 Lubiere (416) Ottawa, Ontario | February 27, 2013 A cool bohemian 1980s haunt with home art, lots of buddhas, rock theme and bric a brac. Friendly service, good beers, but limited menu though. Great spot in Florida. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Jow (96) New York | October 24, 2012 In town for work and the only chance I would have to get to the Buddha would be late on my final night. I show up a little after 1am on a Monday and am pleased to see about 20 other people and live funky little band, kick ass. I sit at bar and order a flight of brews the bartender is efficient but borderline mean but she’s sexy enough that I don’t care. Beers are decent and the vibe is cool. i would definitely hang here more often if i lived closer. You can also enjoy some hookah or a wide selections of teas, something for everyone. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 OmegaX (21) Florida | October 2, 2012 This place is great. The atmosphere is laid back but inviting with entertainment on a nightly basis. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. I think we all know that the beers are awesome. Plus, they have a nice selection of interesting guest taps and bottles to chose from, as well as mixed drinks and wine if that’s your thing. The food is meh, but it beats the hell out of anywhere that doesn’t have food, right? Overall this place is great for anyone who enjoys beer and fun. A must visit in the area. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 msante79 (335) Mount Prospect, Illinois | August 31, 2012 Nice low key brewery with bar in the back. Nice low light and cool vibe. Had a stage and a bunch small tables. Sat at the bar and had the sampler a couple of special releases and all were great. Ordered the veggie quesadila and received the chicken one instead which was not very good. The beer more than made up for the food and that is what I came for anyway. Will definitely be back. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 Scopey (271) Croydon, England | June 3, 2012 I hired a car from Miami airport on a stop-over and made the pilgrimage to Funky Buddha (about 1 hour drive). Inside it’s dark, laid-back and atmospheric. I pretty much stayed there from open to close! The bar staff were all brewers, so were particularly knowledgeable. They had 6 house-beers on tap (including Peach Berliner) and a well-chosen selection of guests (the Westbrook Gose was delicious). They do a sampler tray of all their beers for a reasonable price. They also have a comprehensive bottle selection, which includes things like BA Rasputin and Hopslam. Only minor disappointment is that they no longer fill growlers….. Still it was well worth the journey. A great brewpub. | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 10/20 SHIG (178) Anchorage, Alaska | March 29, 2012 Stopped by Boca Raton for a night en route to Miami for a cruise. My hotel was directly across from the lounge. The lighting seemed very dreary when I entered, not conducive to rating. Its a hookah bar so the aroma was of tobacco and very mellowing. All the bar stools were full, so I sat at a table. After being ignored for 15 mins I decided to stand at the end of the bar to get a beer. However a couple a few minutes later sat at a far table and one of the servers went to them to take their order. A plus was their two for one happy hour beers. Their beers seemed pretty well done and solid, but the lounge really wasn’t what I expected from previous ratings. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 justruy (10) Florida | March 28, 2012 I love almost every beer this brewery puts out. I try to make it up here at least once a month whenever they tap one of their limited release kegs. They also have a great guest tap list on top of their 8 or so FB taps. This place is really worth the trip. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 pari6819 (40) Florida | March 20, 2012 Great food though limited in choices. It’s offerings taste great. The beer is unreal. I have to admit I love what they brew, and this trip has allowed me to enjoy many more of their great offerings. I wish I lived closer so I could constantly taste their offerings. They have such depth in respect to their creativity that the complexity of their product seems to constantly evolve in new ways. |
