A nice corner bar with a decent size patio especially for the area. I was visiting my sister with my wife and our two dogs and we wanted to wear the dogs out before leaving them at my sisters house for the evening. We walked them through Prospect Park and into Park Slope when we decided it was the perfect day and time for a pint. The Gate was perfect for our needs because they had a great tap list, gluten free bottle options for my sister, they let you order in food from wherever you want, and they allow dogs. We initially hung out on the patio because we weren’t sure how the other patrons would feel about our dogs but we got cold enough that we didn’t care about that anymore. The patrons and staff must be used to having dogs because everyone was happy to pet them and no one batted an eye at our pit bull. We had a few pints, ordered in some burgers, and had an enjoyable time. The service was quick and very friendly, even though it was crowded during the NFL playoff game. The crowd was mostly regulars, of which I would be if I lived in the area. Great place.

This is the best pub I’ve entered so far. Beeing a swede on vaccation in NY with focus on beerdrinking and getting to know people, this was elite. The bartender immediately sensed what I wanted and I did not only drank some of my best beers here, I also spend the whole evening with some wonderful regulars. The interior tells tales of some great brewers/events being there. Love it!

Nice pub-like atmosphere, nice outdoor area for warmer weather. The service is usually prompt and courteous. The selection varies. Generally not outstanding, but they DO have some killer events with killer beers. No food, but you can BYOF. Decent prices. Nice place, a little far off the beaten path.

made it here for the Southampton tasting and was pleasantly surprised. Had the option for 16 or 12oz pours on pretty much everything, which helped with ticking. Got there early, before the southampton beers where put on, so the selection is good even when there isn’t an event, though nothing all that rare. Decent prices and friendly service. No food, but bringing in food is no problem (pizza place across the street is decent). Nice neighborhood bar which, despite one really drunk couple who broke a glass, probably doesn’t get too rowdy. I’d come back more often but it’s a bit of a trek from manhattan via subway.

On the surface this place might look like quite a few other places, but once you get there you grab the atmosphere of a neighborhood-bar. We watched a few of the matches of the Soccer World Cup there in the summerof 2010. And had a few beer from tap as well. Very decent selection. Would like this place to be my local bar, if I lived in N.Y.

This was a pretty decent place. Didn’t appear as though they had food. The beer selection was pretty solid, the service was decent, and it had a big outdoor area, which is always a plus. Good place to grab a beer.

Good rotation of craft beers, with a knowledgeable staff. Very reasonable prices. Nice outdoor area. Great place to relax and enjoy fine beer or two.

Been going here for years and years... excellent neighborhood bar with a kick-ass beer selection. The people that work there and that patronize it are all great, unpretentious people. The kind of place I wish I could go to more often. Oh and they have darts. C’mon!

Nice outdoor spot in the Slope, however the outside is small and you can never get a seat. Inside is nice and dark, old style feeling. Selection varies depending on when you go (ie events) but the taps are decent and prices are ok as well.

Stopped in for food and beer after a bottle run at Biercraft just down the street. The bartender has a binder full of menus from the literally dozens of nearby carryout places. You phone in your order, and a bike shows up with some darned good vitals. Two Brothers brewing was featured on tap, but there were lots of local and a few European brewers too. We were a day early for a cask festival that was to feature mostly English beers and "some surprises", according to the poster. Besides beer, the place also serves hard liquor. Classic neighborhood hangout kind of place. Dogs allowed.
