| IauditUUhateme (14), Coram, New York | | October 20, 2011 I had been told by my beer guy to check this place out. A bit far from my house, I wasn’t really interested. WOW!!! I am now! I’ll be back again & again! I can hop off the train and walk there in a couple of minutes. The beer selection was top-notch. The food was also great! Mashed potato won-tons are a must! Great service, fun bartenders, beer & food! See you again soon! | | msante79 (253), Mount Prospect, Illinois | | September 5, 2011 Nice little neighborhood bar. Sat at the bar and had 3 beers on tap, the mussels which were a little disappointing, and the fish sandwich which was pretty good. Prices weren’tto bad for LI. Bartender was super cool. Nice neighborhood crowd and not beern geeky at all. Would go back. Food is better at Croxley’s, but I think you will find more one offs and seasonals at this place. | | Jow (59), New York | | July 30, 2011 We took LIR out from city on Friday and pub crawled our way back home. Most places were dives but this was a gem. Nice selection of drafts, friendly service, and cool setting. I wish I had some food and could have stayed for more than a beer but alas such is the long island pub crawl challenge | | tgncc (49), Bellmore, New York | | September 6, 2010 Attractive old fashioned pub atmosphere. Attentive service. The selection is very good, lots of craft beer on tap and in bottles. Decent rotation of taps as well. Nice looking resturant section in back. Prices are about in line for a bar with this kind of beer available. Convenient location. Nice place. Good to see these types of places popping up around here. | | Chapel (34), Levittown, New York | | August 31, 2010 It is positively criminal that this place has a mere two ratings as it is probably one of the better bars on Long Island for beer. The bar is well lit and quiet, perfect for rating and discussing the numerous beer they have available. The selection at my visit included the likes of Captain Lawrence, Barrier (in fact, they carried everything from Barrier) and Greenport. Plenty of other stuff ranging from the easy to find to the mildly rare filled out the rest of the taps. Ther service was, in a word, fantastic. The staff was super friendly and easily went above and beyond the usual "smile and nod" serivce of other places. This was the first time I really got to know a bartender pretty well (she has an MSW and is currently on hiatus from Law School at Hofstra). The food was great and anyone who like cheeseburgers owes themselves a trip out here to try the Good Life Burger. Unfortunately, it can get a little pricey and a burger and two tap beers came out to around $20 before tip.
This is place is, without a doubt, worth a visit. Especially considering that it is walking distance to the Massapequa Park train station on the LIRR. If you are driving however, a large municipal parking lot across the street is there for your use and the famous All American Drive in is less than 10 minutes away. | Theo4Beer (1), does not count - explanation | | June 5, 2010 So happy that this place did it right. Great balance & selection of beers & some amazing choices for their starting list. The staff is friendly & the food is solid. This place is gonna be my new stomping ground for years to come. | | bonbright7 (38), Bellport, New York | | June 3, 2010 The Good Life stands out among all craft beer bars in Nassau County on Long Island, NY as it has a great selection served by a friendly and knowledgeable staff who are aiming heavily to please.
Dressed in a Contemporary meets English pub in post modern style, the bar exudes comfort with three separate sections: one for the bar and two for dining. The bar is the highlight of this show and the 22 taps are very present when one walks into the dark wood paneled front area. A simple lined chalk board illustrates the prime selection , which I observed last night to have good mix of styles and the best of each. The selection also notes that this bar has great reach in obtaining the best flavors.
I first head of The Good Life from a beer rep who suggested the place to me and my group of home brewers as a place we could meet over a pint or three and be social. My beer group not only loved the place for its selection and its very good quality food, but they loved the way the place ran, even when packed.
One of the funny features of the bar is the "the bottle of Indecision", which pours a random number corresponding to anything listed in the bar, thus one can find serendipity without choosing.
The Good Life is just what Nassau County needed as most of Long Island, NY is solid BMC country and will be slow to change without good places like this reminding us of what good beer can be. |
