October 1, 2011 Cool place w a decor that just keeps your eyes wandering. The walls are literally covered in signed dollar bills from patrons past, and how can you argue with an oil painting of the most interesting man in the world? Beer selection left a little to be desired, but you instantly feel accepted as a local if you’re rooting for the home team |

April 30, 2011 Kind of a cool little dive bar close to the water in Charleston. Good amount of taps with a couple solid local selections that they rotate, from what I can tell. Dark wood and stone, with dollar bills stapled everywhere. Not a destination, but if you are in the neighborhood not a bad place to grab a brew. |

September 6, 2010 I merely knew this was a historic tavern with a decent beer list. I wasn’t entirely certain what to expect but this was a little divier than I thought. A few TV’s were up showing baseball and dollar bills were stapled all over the place which was a weird contrast to the stone and wood decor. Tap list is not bad, but nothing I was really excited to drink was on. I settled for some Ranger IPA. Menu was not too bad, but nothing really jumped out at me. I had some nachos which were alright. Very average bar. I can’t go one way or the other on this place. I won’t be making a beeline for the Griffin on my next visit, but if I’m on the street with an hour to kill I’d stop by again. |

July 20, 2010 Great place - service could be better. The atmosphere is very warm and enjoyable. They have darts, and dimly lit table area to enjoy with friends. Sports on TV and good music. Great place to meet for a drink with a friend. Decent tap selection - Foothills Porter served in Foothills glassware - Moylans Hopsickle on tap. For their size - a good place to get a craft beer. |

June 20, 2010 If you’re looking for a classy dive bar to enjoy a craft beer, the Griffon is the place.
They always have so many hoppy beers on tap, I can’t decide.
The Griffon tapped a Foothills Sexual Chocolate this past year - that’s something to be proud of - Charleston’s coming of craft-beer age.
A great Hole #9 in bar golf - I finished par with an Avery DuganA.
My first choice bar to enjoy a craft beer on the penninsula. |
