The Long Room is a pretty awesome bar, with a great feel. I went there for the first time not expecting much, but was happily surprised by the high quality and fairly expansive selection of good beer. The bartenders here are always awesome, providing great service, and the prices are on par for the rest of Chicago. It isn’t the easiest place for a tourist to get to, but if you get the chance, give this place a shot.

a bit far from me so I love the fact they have a parking lot... small space and way too crowded, don’t come here on a Friday night... good tap list, rare beers plus comfort good stuff, had Darkness tonight, awesome... they were totally short staffed, only one bartender working... out of the way but has potential to be a place to hit up often

My girl and I came here during a recent trip to Chicago. VIBE: let me start by saying that I love the concept of this place. The massive narrow bar and handful of booths are consistent with The Long Room theme. Laid back tunes quietly play in the background while patrons chat among themselves. The dark ambience gives the place a lounge-like atmosphere, which is very appropriate for a mid-to-upscale alehouse. Great vibe. SERVICE: the bartender was pleasant and inviting, although he missed the mark when recommending a wine to my girlfriend. She was looking for a good pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc, he suggested a rosé instead. She thought it was drinkable, but I had to limit myself to two pints because the lady wanted to score a nicer vino back at our hotel. Considering this is a beer spot, though, the server did his best to please us both and he was quite friendly during our short stay. SELECTION: I ordered a Three Floyds Pride & Joy Mild Ale and Rogue Dad’s Little Helper Black IPA, both of which tasted lovely. Other draughts included BrewDog and Stone Bashah, Ommegang BPA, Clown Shoes Brown Angel, and Allagash Victor Ale. Given the bar’s high rating, I was surprised to see mainstream offerings like Blanche de Chambly and De Koninck cluttering up the tap lines. The bottle list also has fairly common micros and imports such as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Leffe Blonde. However, North Coast Le Merle, Ayinger Bräu Weisse, Two Brothers Domaine DuPage, and Goose Island Pere Jacques caught my attention. OVERALL: I’d like to come back for a brewery event or special beer release to get a better feel for this place and what it has to offer. From what I gathered on our brief crawl, it seems like the chilled out atmosphere and cheap prices are the main attractions, as several Chicago bars have more extensive and diverse beer lineups than Long Room. Having said that, we enjoyed our time here and there’s no denying that this bar is a prime low-key alehouse with quality beer.

Great job! I would love to see them get some basic food going. You can only metabolize at Popeye’s so many times.

A pretty rad bar down the street from me. It is, as the title may suggest, a long room. They have a ton of quality handles, including some rarities. They actually had Haandbryggeriet on tap, which kind of blew my mind. The service is pretty great and it’s nice place to kick back at the long bar and chill for a while. Fresh lines as well.

Very good neighborhood place, and I’m glad that I’m kind of in the neighborhood now. Narrow space and dark, but laid back and good beer. You can certainly miss it from the street as it’s pretty non-descript, so be on the lookout. The crowd borders on hipster but doesn’t quite make it, which is a good thing -- there will be a few interspersed, but it’s generally just laid back 20- and 30-somethings mingling.

Walked to the Long Room after a game at Wrigley to get away from the crowds. A bit out of the way, but not bad for locals I imagine. No food, which I like in Chicago because it seems to keep the crowds reasonable. A darker, long bar inside, with some seating in the back and also a nice outside patio. Nice music choices. This place had a great variety of styles, with most of it being hard to find or high quality. First place I’ve seen with Lost Abbey stuff, was not about to pay the price for it, but I found that intriguing none the less. Service was very good and knowledgeable enough. Would have been nice to see some dart or shuffle boards.

Long Room is a great neighborhood place, very relaxed, no tv, and always some interesting music playing. Friendly, laid back crowd. There is some Schlitz breweriana on top of the cooler towards the front, and unique artistic touches throughout the place. Taps rotate fairly often, good micro seasonals and Belgians. Beer list is not huge, but there is something for all tastes. One of my favorites in the area.

I live a bit down the street from this bar and it has been such a pleasant experience going here. A great relaxed bar with nice people and a good selection of local and national micro brews. Music is never too loud, nice lower lighting, just a really nice all around place and when the weather is nice the patio is relaxing. One of my favorite aspects is no tv’s!!!! Go here and have some conversation with your friends and you won’t get annoyed by a bunch of tv’s flashing in dimly lit room. Try to get here if you can and check out what they have on tap, because it is always changing
