88 A local bar ambiance, I want to say the feel is upscale divey. Don’t ask me what makes that different from a dive, maybe it’s just a little cleaner. But I like it. A good selection of craft taps, which included 2013, ’14, and ’15 La Folie on tap a couple days ago. So you can expect to see some oddities here from the distributor. Very good service and very reasonable prices for what they were serving. Each tap available in multiple glass sizes as well, which is great. Didn’t check the bottle list, and didn’t try the food. Do note: cash only. |

86 Dive bar type place. Cash only good food very friendly service. |
86 A great place to have close by. Put in the category of a craft beer sports bar probably. A really great selection of taps and also bottles to go. Typical bar food menu that will probably exceed your expectations. A fantastic bacon cheeseburger that’s a must have. Service can get backed up. But it usually is pretty busy at prime times. Overall a great place downriver. |
88 Ambiance is dim & kind of dive bar-like. Fitting, with camaraderie and sporting events always on TV. Service is fine, selection is very nice - constantly rotating between all kinds of craft brews & often holding special tasting events and tap takeovers. Best tap selection Downriver. Greasy & delicious bar food. It ain’t healthy but it tastes great. Beers are moderately priced. Not great but far from the worst, too. Overall, one of my favorite places to get together with friends and drink. Seems like they’re always carrying something I haven’t had. |
78 I liked this place. The staff were helpful and the bar was ambiance for me. The food was OK. I was surprised to learn it was cah only! Luckily had enough. Also did not like happy hour featuring only mass produced beers |
76 Small neighborhood bar feel, nice tap list, a few I haven’t had before. Some big screen TVs (go tigers!), staff were nice, prices were decent Oud Bruin was pricey and they warned you up front. Nice place if I lived in the area I’d be in a lot. Usual bar food. Don’t take credit cards. |
78 A bit overpriced it is one of the best selections Downriver. I usually like to kick it with the main bartender and owner. He makes it great. Most of the bartenders there are pretty accommodating, but they could use some more people on staff. And I am not sure what the training is like...but even though I know most of the beers I like someone to know at least if I am looking for a craft light beer where to point me. I still and will always love and support the Oak. A downriver staple. |
90 Favorite place to go downriver. Selection is fantastic all year. I’ve never had a problem with being taken care of even on extremely busy nights. Sometimes it reminds me a little too much of a sports bar with the atmosphere and food selection, but may be what they’re going for. I’ve seen families with young children there many times. Amazing place. |
90 The Oak is one our favorite stops when visiting family while in town. Its a old school corner bar with a amazing beer selection. I think they have 40 taps which varies from a few macros to keep the locals happy a few mild imports like Stella and Bass and the rest is some craft goodies. The last few times we were there they had on Founders Blushing Monk, Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree and Bells Hop Slam. Some of our favorites. Food is good its a bar food menu thats done right. Dont go there and expect Surf and Turf. Service has always been good some of the staff is very knowledgable about beers. A few times we went there it can get pretty busy even during the day time. Also their bottle menu is pretty good too. A few standard crafts as well as a few seaonal rarities. |
