| Slipstream (59), | | May 21, 2012 The New York City area could use a couple more brewpubs, so I was happy to come across this one. It is really 2 places - a somewhat pricey restaurant (not a pub-grub joint), and then a barroom, connected by a long hallway, off of which is the brewing equipment. The tap selection is good - along with 5-6 of their own brews, they have a nice range of releases from other craft breweries. Their pints were solid and reasonably priced. The environment is pretty simple and traditional, with a few TVs showing sports. It is located literally a stone’s throw from the train station (and from a nice park with views of the Hudson), so you should consider paying this place a visit. | | Leafs93 (74), Conshohocken, Pennsylvania | | July 24, 2011 Nice little brewery/restaurant located a stones throw from the Hudson river. Had five of their own brews on tap and I think 12 guest taps. Lots of different bottles in the fridge. I hope to make it back. | | BiddleBrau (58), Fort Washington, Pennsylvania | | May 10, 2011 Interesting place. As noted, two different rooms facing two intersecting streets. Rooms connected by long hallway. Sat in the bar and sampled their own brews. Overall, decent flavor. The Mrs. enjoyed the Sally Sweeney oatmeal stout so that’s saying something. Food was pretty good as well, beyond pub fare. Seemed to have a large selection of bottles and offered a few more drafts from other brewers. Interesting town just up from Indian Point. | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | May 5, 2011 What a fascinating place that’s located on a corner facing two different streets. There’s a restaurant area that faces one street and much narrower bar that faces the train station. I sat at the bar. They had 4 of their own, 3 of which were pretty damn good, and a nice selection of guest taps as well as bottles. I also enjoyed the conversation with the bartender who clearly has a passion for beer and made a couple of great suggestions. the ubiquitous hamburger was pretty solid as well. If I lived in the area, I would definitely visit often. | | joebudzjoe (33), Connecticut | | October 11, 2010 Nestled at the bottom of a hill in Peekskill the brewery has two separate entities around the corner from each other; the bar faces the train station while the restaurant faces Hudson Street. We decided to eat at the restaurant portion. The decor is simple and tables are candlelit. Flavored popcorn is served upon arrival and our server and waitress were very cordial. With our pints came complimentary samples of another beer on their menu. We first ordered nachos which were made with really quality ingredients including some really fresh tasting salsa. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich that was topped with a pesto mayo. The sandwich was awesome. The onion rings that came with my sandwich were huge and juicy. Overall, the experience was very impressive. The house beer prices are $4 for session beers and $5 for their heavier and stronger craft beers.
I came from about 45 minutes away to eat here before a show. It was well worth it. If you live near Peekskill and like beer, you gotta stop by. Also, this is a great place to check out before a show at the Paramount. | | Glouglouburp (259), Montreal, Quebec | | April 4, 2010 Small village pub split in two sections. One section is a small friendly pub that can sit about 40 people, the other section is smaller and is more for eating with restaurant tables and chairs. The restaurant section was unused when I was there middle of the after-noon. Two tables on the sidewalk act as a patio. The food was rather good and cheap ($10 to $20). I really liked the small time village pub atmosphere. I can imagine the locals sitting on the same chair at the same time every day. Really nice hand drawn beer board. Selection was 4 house beer + 8 guest beer (Captain Lawrence, Goose Island, etc.). Surprising bottle selection included Ithaca Brute for $22, not the type of beer I expect to find in a red-neck style village pub. I had three of their house beer, two were solid session beer and one was a terrible big beer. Despite the one drain pour I had I really liked the place and will probably stop there again when driving down to New-York. | | Maltajo (34), TARRYTOWN, New York | | July 16, 2009 Great Place! Went this week after a nice long Harley ride. The place was crowded but I was able to get some real estate at the bar with no problem. Nice Beer selection and the food was very good. Good service good people. Go and enjoy! | rds (3), does not count - explanation | | March 5, 2009 A great selection of tap and bottled brews and great food, with some good healthy choices, as wellas typical pub fare, at reasonable prices; super service. I was very impressed with the whole approach and plan to go back again soon. | | j12601 (214), Poughkeepsie, New York | | January 10, 2009 It seems the Peekskill Brewery opened sometime in September 2008. I was in today and had a pretty good time. Their tap list is fairly ample, offering 16 taps. They do brew their own beer, but today none was on tap as they are currently in search of a new brewmaster it seems. On tap today when I was there was: Widmer (didn’t find out what exactly), Abita Purple Haze, Blue Point Toasted Lager, Kelso Chocolate Lager, Magic Hat #9, Southhampton Secret Ale, Goose Island Honkers, Ithaca Cascazilla, Captain Lawrence Double IPA, Captain Lawrence Espresso Stout, Dogfish Head 90 minute, Ommegang Abbey Ale, Avery Hog Heaven, and the Wildfire Pale Ale. Bottle selection is fairly large as well, I counted over 130 different bottles available, with about 20 imports including Delirium Tremens, Duvel, Chimay, and a few foreign commonplace things. Less than 10 macros on the bottle list, none on tap. About 30 or so of the bottles were from New York breweries with a nice selection from Southhampton and Ommegang. |
