This is a pretty incredible brew pub. If you find yourself in Dublin it is well worth the visit.

Located just around the corner from the Temple Bar. Very large with several areas for dining and drinking among a few levels. Can be crowded. Good selection of Porterhouse brews and the apps I sampled were quite good compared to most Irish food.

I wide selection of their own beers as well as international bottles. Great atmosphere and very nice interior. Gets very crowded early in the evenings.

Wow a tip top bar. Clean nice and full of both the Porterhouse beers and ones from all over the world. A top beer selection with beers from everywhere. They had more German Hefe Weizens than 98% of the German bars have. And that just Hefe’s. Five Weizen Bocks. Local beers without an end. Food and service are both very good. Thumbs up!!

Best creftbeer place in Temple Bar and probably in Dublin (although time did not allow me to get to Kavanagh’s). I love the multiple levels and all the nooks and crannies. Great live music was playing when I was there. The beer selkection is the best I found in Ireland...N. or S. The best part though was the people...it might be redundant to say how friendly the Irish people are...but if it was somehow possible...they were even friendlier here than at any other bar I visited in Ireland. There is definitely an appreciation for craftbeers in The Porterhouse I did not find elsewhere in Ireland as the craftbeer culture seems like it is still catching up to England & Scotland. The Porterhouse is worth a special visit...and repeat ones after that.

First visited here in the summer of 1998 on the reccomendation of a non beer geek cousin of mine who lived in Dublin at the time. Have been back a number of times since, most recently Aug ’11.
Back in the day Messrs Maguire and here were the only places to get a beer in Dublin that wasn’t Guinness or mainstream lager so it was a breath of fresh air!
Split level pub with lots of glass, tiles and copper, bars on a few levels.
Always crowded of an evening - don’t expect to get a seat if you show up after 5pm!
Service is OK and copes with the crowds, a little more local/office types than tourists due to it being on the far end of Temple Bar, but yo do still get a fair smattering of the latter.
Range is Porterhouse plus 100 or so bottles.
Worth stopping by on a visit to Dublin.

stayed in dublin for 2 days and this was the best bar we found. good food, nice atmosphere and good selection of food. the beer was good and the choice was great. the oak aged celebration stout was by far the best here.
