This is my new favorite bar in Knoxville. It’s conveniently located just a block outside of the old city with plenty of its own parking, which is a big bonus. The vibe is very Portland, OR. It’s tastefully hip. Good background music, artsy decor and an open floor with a patio outside to boot. The beer selection is not the best in Knoxville, but it’s definitely above average and rotates fairly often. Expect to find something worthwhile from Yazoo, Rogue, Highland, French Broad or perhaps Marble City if they’d just brew better beer. While not beer, The Public House’s strong suite is spirits and cocktail. I usually mix in a Corsair whisky or gin or even a Benton’s Bacon enfused Manhattan while I’m here. The food is only small plates. They are affordable, delicious, and also change seasonally. While Public House is not the best place to come and tick off beer ratings, it is a superior place to come enjoy a good beer and soak up some atmosphere.
