come here for the weekend crowd and entertainment.. not for the beer, which i think is now contract brewed.. boo! the food here is forgettable... the place should be rated as a club, not a beer pub.

A nice microbrewery that is located in the center crossing of Clarke. Good food and towers of micro beer.

I’d like to tell everyone about the beer, food and whatnot from The Pump Room, but I can’t. Our party of four were seated quickly, then completely ignored by the staff. After over 15 minutes of attempting to flag down SOMEONE to take a drink order, we gave up and left. It is worth noting that it was not very busy, as were were one of maybe four tables with patrons. On the way out the door, one girl saw us leaving and, rather than try to get us to stay and maybe take an order, threw us attitude instead. No, thank you, I’ll take my money elsewhere.

In the hideously artificial Riverside, but not on the water and not as beery as Brewerkz. Afternoons are dead, which feels even worse given how large the place is. They seem to be set up for live music, they have a small stage. They have a few guest brews on tap from Archipelago and mixed those up with the house beers in our sampler set, which was very noticeable because most of the house brews were flawed when we were there. I think the problem is with the tap lines--several had the same overt pedio flaw and the guest taps were also flawed as we could easily compare those with the same beer had on tap elsewhere! Would not even consider ordering food here--the prices gave me a heart attack. Would visit again for second chance, but for the most part was disappointed.

Hehehehe, Pump Room. First time I went there it was in the afternoon, the place was dead and it was a bit awkward. Next visit was in the evening, during happy hour (very important to know this stuff in Singapore) when it was relatively busy and we sat outside and had a jolly good time. Of course it’s fairly sanitised in the touristy Singapore centre vein but quite enjoyable. Good, fun service and they try and pump you full of beer very quickly - I approve. Beers are quite good, but the lager suits the climate much better than stuff like the IPA.

On a couple of visits over a few days I stopped by for lunch and I really liked the vibe of the place. It was generally quiet when I was there which didn’t do much for the ambiance but I didn’t mind, the PR has that chilled laid back feel. The beers were solid, some of the best I had in Singapore, especially the IPA. As for the food, I enjoyed the dishes I had ordered and matched well to the beers. And the staff were hard to flaw, very switched on and professional but at the same time blended in well with the relaxed, chilled vibe. My favourite place to drink beer in Singapore along side Archipelago.

It’s in a very touristy area. The decor is artificial (pillars cloaked in white fibre glass to look like white cloth drapes), but late on a Staurday afternoon it had a real pub vibe - small groups of diverse young people (probably mostly tourists) drinking and talking. So despite its crap decor, its got a fairly good feel (or had atb 5:30pm on Sat). The service was slow, but when they noticed me they were very friendly (or did they see me scribbling notes?) . Good selection - their own beers, Archipelago and imports. Didn’t try the food. I hit happy hour - 2 for 1 (but have to have the same beer), so the value was OK, but even doubled up it seems expensive. If you are going to Singapore, definitely go there - it is top three for beer.

Go for the Wheat Ale (first and foremost) & other In-House Brews from this cosy Microbrewery. Their beers are the main thing, factor and consideration. Having said that, the decor and layout are great. You feel like you are in a big lounge area with the most important aspect of the clean and preen kitchen adjacent - in this case, the Microbrewery. Warm romantic lighting and tip top staff add to the gloss. A great place for functions, gatherings or, just to space out. There are televisions for the sports fans and, a solid band for those like it live. Food’s average only however. Prices are a bit steep, but on the lower end of this spectrum (save for the micorbrewed beers that are worth every dime you pay). Nice selection of audible music to accompany your swig when the band is off duty. Overall, a homely comfortable locality you have no qualms revisiting over and over again. The service standards are exceptional. Pay particular attention to the bartenders. These fellows are pros.
