This is a nice venue in a really interesting old building with numerous areas to sit inside and outside, upstairs and downstairs. We had a couple of beers from their selection of about 20 taps but no food so can’t comment on that. Service was ok and all up a nice place for a session,

Our first stop on a recent visit to Raleigh. Cool, historic building in the hub of the downtown area that has been creatively restored by the current owners. Got here midweek, between the lunch hour and happy hour crowds, so seating and service were not an issue. In fact, the service was top notch and informative. The 18 taps ranged from local to global along with an extensive bottle list. Food menu had more than just pub grub and what we ordered was very satisfying. Both the beers and food are fairly priced. Definitely recommend.

I had such a great time making new friends at the Raleigh Times that I didn’t have time to take any notes. It was very busy with people not put off by the snow which had crippled the road system earlier in the day (and a few who had left the office early and decided to stay overnight in town). Greg the owner and his skeleton staff of four people did a sterling job of keeping everyone happy and there was a fun buzz to the place. I expect this isn’t unusual here - my impression was of a old lovely place with three rooms, interesting decor and a pretty good beer list. (Visited 12 February 2014).

Visited here on a lazy Sunday afternoon right after hitting busy bee. This was much busier, slightly surprisingly, but I don’t know the Raleigh scene so well. Also had a slightly more eclectic tap selection (though it really could have just been the luck of the draw on this particular day). Bartender was friendly and helpful which I appreciated. Would probably be a regular if I lived in Raleigh.

We stopped in on a late Saturday afternoon before the town’s Guy Fawkes Festival. It’s a pretty big place- three downstairs rooms that each had their own full bar and an upstairs room with a bar and a nice outdoor deck on the roof. We only had some appetizers but they were tasty and three of them fed the four of us well. Solid tap lineup offered both local and far reaching beers. I stayed local with some Mother Earth and Foothills offerings. Prices seemed very reasonable. The bottle list was pretty expansive and organized by style on their menu. Our server wasn’t the most attentive guy and the place wasn’t all that busy, but then he took off a couple of our beers for the long wait- so I have to assume we just experienced a fluke. The interior is a mix of polished refinement and half restored/demo’d finishes. The exposed brick was nice, the broken drywall was weird, but it all kind of worked so it didn’t bother me. Was really happy with our time here and will seek it out again my next time in Raleigh.

Enjoyably designed, multi-roomed bar that is gradually expanding through the old offices of the newspaper for which it is named. An extraordinarily classy place in a downmarket kind of way. Some highly unusual beers though can be at a price. A quiality act.

I really like the "shabby-chic" interior and the vibe of the Raleigh Times. The food was great, but overpriced, which is the main issue that I have with the place. It is inexcusably the most expensive American beer bar that I’ve ever been in. That it packs them in is a tribute to the "see and be seen" factor.

Another fine raleigh beer bar. I’ve only eaten her once but I go here for their beers. I’ve been 5 times and have always found something I desire. It is a happening place but I’ve managed to always find a place at the bar. This is our after party place for WBF as well. They get the good stuff here.

Interesting decor in old building former newspaper. I’ve good and not service here. I’ve had good food mostly except 1 bad appetizer. Decent beer selection. Food menu is mostly bar food. Fun place overall.

Cool beer bar with a nice outside patio. Went on a busy evening, so service wasn’t great, but I didn’t expect much considering. Selection was nice...and beers were good as well. Nice beer list.
